This Temple is located in a place called Thiru Aayarpaadi in Ponneri Town on the banks of River Aarani.  This area is known as Thiru Aayarpaadi since Lord Krishna gives Dharshan in the form of a Shepherd to the Devotees.  Lord Krishna  has assumed a Human form here with a Whip in one of his hands. Generally an Ant Hill is found only in Amman Temples but there is an Ant Hill found in this Temple too and the Lord is presumed to had evolved from it. The Presiding Deity is found to be standing on the floor instead of a raised base as in other Temples. This Temple was built by Late Kari Kaala Cholan-II and hence the name of Kari Krishna Perumal. The Goddess here is Soundaravalli Thayar who has a separate Sannadhi. Lord Rama  has a separate Sannadhi.  Andal too has a separate Sannadhi here.  A 16 pillar mandapam is found outside the Temple and all the 16 pillars are found little tilted which would make it appear as though the mandapam is likely to crash and fall. It is firmly believed that Kari Krishna Perumal would bless any childless couple with a beautiful child.
