  • Panchamukha Sri Jayamaruthi Temple, Panchavatee, Vanur Taluk, Tamil Nadu

Temple is located in Panchavatee in Vanur Taluk of Villupuram District.  The built up area where the Temple has come up is called as Panchavatee Kshethram and it is close to Pondy or Pondicherry.   The Temple area spans across a sprawaling 12 acre vacant land.  The Presiding Deity is Sree Jaya Maruthi who stands 36 feet tall and firmly saddled on a Lotus Pedestal.  Deity could be told as one of the tallest ever in India.  The 150 tonne single stone for carving this huge Jaymaruthi statue was fetched from Palayaseevaram a small  village between Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram.  Temple started its construction (On 24th June 1999 and the Consectration or Maha Kumbabishekam performed in 31st January 2007)  through the vacant land donated by Santhanam Iyengar and the entire Temple construction was  overseen by Sri Ramani Anna  who had built the the Nanganallur Anjaneyar  Temple too.  Sri Jaya Maruthi or Hanuman graces the Temple with five faces and in a Vishvaroopam image and the 64 feet Vimaanam stands guard over the Sanctum Sanctorum.  The Panchamukham of the Main Deity consists of Sri Hanuman facing East, Garuda facing West, Narasimha facing South, Varaha facing North and Hayagreeva facing Skyward, making it an altogether indomitable Avathar.  The 10 arms of this Deity holds different weapons to fight all the evil forces. The inner roofing of the Main Sannadhi is gorgeously painted with images from Dasavatharam.  A floating stone is kept in a vessel  opposite to the Main Deity.  . There is an exclusive Shrine for Pattabisheka Ramachandramoorthy. Recently a Lokakshema Pooja was performed here for the general health and well being of the humanity.  Apart from this there are Sub Shrines for Lord Ganesh, Lord Venkateshwara Perumal & Nag Devthas. The Ramar Paadham is preserved in an enclosure. A Vasantha Mandapam and a Seetha Kalyana Mandapam could be seen. One part of the wall has Andal painting with Verses from Thiruppaavai.   Various painting from Ramayana have been chosen and portrayed on the peripheral walls of the Temple.   The Temple has an exclusive Temple Kitchen or Madapalli wherein Prasadam for all Devotees are cooked with utmost care. Hanumath Jayanthi and Sri Rama Navami attract lots of Devotees from far and near.   Temple has an exclusive Temple office within its premises.  The Car parking provided is more than adequate.  People keeping trickling in since the Temple gains prominence being close to the Tamil Nadu –  Pondicherry border.  The Temple Management under Chairman Shri M. Kothandaraman has to be complimented for keeping the Temple meticulously clean.
