Sri Guru Mutheeswarar Temple is a North facing Temple and it is located on the main road near the gate of the District Collectors Office in Thiruvallur Town. The full name of the Temple is Sri Bommi Ammal Samedha Sri Guru Mutheeswar Temple. There are two Idols of a Vinayagar and Murugan who are seen North facing and in a standing posture at the Temple's main gate. The unique aspect of this Temple is the Statue of a Nandhi and a Huge 41 Feet Lingam which is otherwise known as Rajalingam. This Shiva Lingam is flanked on either side by two white Nandhi Idols. During the time of Shivarathiri a crane pours around 2000 litres of Milk on the Lingam. Devotees may have to climb 4 to 5 steps to reach the Temple premises. The Gopuram of the Moolasthanam has coloured Idols of Shivan, Parvathy, Vinayagar, Murugan. There are two green Yaali Idols placed on either side of the steps. There is a North facing Shrine in which the Presiding Deity of Guru Mutheeswarar is in a Human form instead of the usual Lingam in other Temples. His Consort is known as Goddess Bommi Ammal. Thirukurippu Nayanar is also found standing just beside Guru Mutheeswarar in the Sanctum Sanctorum. The Temple has an East facing Shrine of Sri Gnana Lingam who is in the form of a Shiva Lingam and He looks eye appealing when seen along with the Naagabharanam. Standing guard on either side of the Shrine of Sri Gnana Lingam is an East facing Gnana Vinayagar and another East facing Idol of Sri Subramaniyar flanked by His Consorts Valli and Devasena. There is a West facing Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam, a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram and a Nandhi Bhagwan facing the Shrine of Sri Gnana Lingam. Close to the Nandhi Vaahanam are two Idols of Vinayagar. Devotees cannot enter the Temple through this Eastern entrance but instead they may have to enter the Moolasthana Mandapam only through the Northern entrance. Around the Koshtam there are Idols of a South facing Dhakshinamoorthy, a West facing Sub Shrine of Maha Vishnu, and North facing Sub Shrines of Brahmma and Durgai.

The outer peripheral has an East facing Sub Shrine of Mukthi Ganapathy and a West facing Sub Shrine of Surya Bhagwan. There is an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Mangalya Puthra Devi Amman who is seen in a seated posture with an infant on Her lap. To the rear of thsi Sub Shrine is an East facing Vianyagar and Naaga Devathas Sub Shrine. Likewise there is a North facing Sub Shrine of Sri Mutheeswarar. This Temple has newly added an East facing Sub Shrine in which Sai Baba is seen in a seated posture and this Idol is made of white marble. Close to this is the Sub Shrine of Sri Swami Iyyappan who is in a sitting posture and East facing. This Sub Shrine looks glittering with all the gold platings inclusive of the 18 steps. There are two Images of Swamy Iyyappan seen seated on a tiger and it looks amazing to see these along with the Temple roof which are all gold plated. On the left flank of the outer periphery there is a Navagraha Sannadhi and a South facing Sub Shrine of Sri Kaala Bhairavar.

The Sthala Viruksham here is a Vanni Tree. Most of the Temple Idols are believed to have come out of the Lake Bed around 100 years ago. The Temple has a Madapalli and a small Annadhana Koodam. Thei Pirai Ashtami, Valar Pirai Ashtami, Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner.  This is a Private Temple and is very well maintained and looked after by S.Rangan, the Temple Trustee.
