Sri Jagatratchaga Perumal Temple is located in Thirukudalur close to the main road. This Temple is also known as Vaiyam Kaatha Perumal Temple. It is one of the 108 Divya Desam dedicated to Maha Vishnu. It was during the 8th century that the Cholas built this Temple but later the Vijayanagara Kings and the Madurai Naayaks took over from them and had developed this Temple this level. The Temple is East facing with a five tiered Rajagopuram. On entering the Temple there is a huge temporary tin sheet roofing. The Temple has a Dwajasthambam or a Kodi Maram, a Neivedhya Peedam and a West facing Sub Shrine of Garudalwar. There are two huge coloured Dwara Baalaga Idols on the threshold of the Moolasthanam. Atop the entrance of the Moolasthanam Jagatrakshaga Perumal is seen in a standing posture and flanked by His Consorts. In the East facing Moolasthanam the Presiding Deity of Vaiyam Kaatha Perumal is in a standing posture and flanked by Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. The Urchavamoorthy is Sree Jagatrakshaga Perumal by whose name this Temple is called. Jagatrakshaga Perumal is flanked by His Consorts. Close to the Moolasthanam is the Sub Shrine of Varadaraja Perumal who is seen in a standing posture along with His Consorts. There is a Sub Shrine for Vishvaksenar too. In the outer Mandapam there is a Sub Shrine for Bhoovaraha Swami and facing this Sub Shrine is another Sub Shrine in which Chakkrathalwar and Yoga Narasimhar are found back to back. In the outer peripheral there is a Alwar Sub Shrine in which Pillailogachariar, Sri Aalavandhar, Sri Manavala Maamunigal, Sri Ramanujar or Udayavar, Thirumangai Alwar and Nammalwar are found. This Temple has an East facing Thaayar Shrine in which PadmasanaValli Thaayar is seen in a sitting posture. Her Urchavamoorthy Idol which is known as Pushpavalli Thaayar is safely preserved in the Moolasthanam of Jagatrakshaga Perumal. Before Her Shrine there are two Dwara Baalaki Idols standing posture. There is an East facing Aandal Sub Shrine. The outer peripheral has a Jackfruit Tree which the villagers wanted to cut away several decades ago but finally they did not cut the Tree and allowed it grow. Even today a closer look at the Tree would reveal a Sangu like marking on the bark of the Tree as a result of which this Tree is revered. The Sthala Viruksham is Jackfruit Tree whereas the Sacred Tank is called as Chakra Theertham. The Temple has a Massive compound wall around it. The Temple lacks car parking space and Devotees are forced to park their vehicles on the main road itself. This Temple is also konwn as Thirukoodalur Aduthurai Perumal Temple or Vaiyam Katha Perumal. Since this Temple is considered to be at the mid point of Earth all Devas are believed to have come here to worship Lord Jagadrakshaka Perumal hence the name Thirukoodal or Holy Gathering. Vaikasi Brahmmotsavam is celebrated in a grand manner.

Contact Details: Kasthuri Rangan 96598 80628. It is advisable to contact him before visiting this Temple, since many Devotees allege that he is highly irregular in opening the Temple.
