Sri Periyanayagi Amman Temple is also known by the name Sri Brihannayaki Amman Temple and is located in Devikapuram between Polur to Chetpet in Thiruvannamalai District. This Temple comprises of a tall 7 tiered East facing Rajagopuram. Facing the Rajagopuram is a four pillared vacant Mandapam around which the vehicles are parked. Just beneath the Rajagopuram several Idols are found embossed on the walls but the Bhairavar Idol and Narasimhar are eye captivating among them. On the right there is a empty multi pillared Mandapam, while on the left is a four pillared Theerthavari Mandapam. Behind this Mandapam is the Temple's Sacred Tank or Pushkarani known as Brahmma Theertham but unfortunately this is full of filth and dirt. Facing the Moolasthanam is a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam, a Dwajasthambam or a Flag Staff and next to it is a Nandhi Vaahanam beneath a four pillared Mandapam. While proceeding to the Sanctum Sanctorum there is a Ganapathy Sub Shrine on the left and another Sub Shrine for Murugan on the right. Devotees may have to climb 4 or 5 steps to reach these Sub Shrines. There is a multi pillared Mandapam and Devotees amy have to climb 3 or 4 steps to reach here. Each of the pillars here is engraved and embossed with Divine Idols to give an appealing look to the Devotees. There are two black Dwara Baalaki Idols viz. Jaya and Vijaya on either side on proceeding to the Moolasthanam. Beyond it there is a Pradhana Ganapathy Idol on the left while on the right there are Idols for Natarajar and Sivagami Ambal. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Brihannayagi Ambal who is also called as Periyanayagi Amman is seen in a standing posture facing the East. She has four hands and holds Pasa Angusam in Her upper hands while She shows the Abhaya and Varadha Mudhras in Her lower arms. Devotees can circumambulate the Moolasthanam where there are Idols for Ganapathy, Maha Vishnu, Murugan and Chandikeshwari. This Temple consists of two huge concentric walls. In the first outer peripheral there is a Pavazha Malli Tree beneath which Idols of Somaskandar could be seen. There is also a Sub Shrine for Kasi Viswanathar and Pillayar. The outer most peripheral has a compound wall of nearly 30 to 35 feet high. There are several Neem, Coconut and other Trees in this outer most peripheral. This Temple has a huge Navagraha Sub Shrine in the out most peripheral and close to this is a Ghoshala. The Temple has Thulabaaram facilities for the sake of the Devotees to give their offerings. There is a busy market area just behind the Temple where flowers, garlands, coconuts, fruits etc meant for Pooja could be bought from the rows of shops situated there.

This is an exclusive Temple for Periyanayaki Amman. Her Consort Sri Kanagagreeswarar who is an incarntion of Lord Shiva is found on a hilltop Temple located closeby. Devotees willing to reach Sri Kanagagireshwarar Temple may have to climb few hundred steps to reach there in order to have a Darshan. This Temple is open to the Devotees only from 8 AM to 10 AM.
