Sri Ponni Amman Temple is located on the main road in Sogandi Village. Sogandi is on the outskirts of Sunguvarchatram in Kanchipuram District. This Temple has neither a Rajagopuram nor a Dwajasthambam. The actual Temple of Sri Ponni Amman in Sogandi is East facing. Anyhow there is a huge coloured Idol of a sitting Sri Ponniamman which is around 16 Feet tall facing North. This huge Idol of Sri Ponniamman is known as Sri Vishwaroopa Ponniamman. Close to this is another small Idol of Sri Ponniamman in a sitting posture. The Gopuram atop the Maha Mandapam has a coloured Idol of Sri Ponniamman in a seated posture facing East. Along with this there are a few more Divine Idols on the Gopuram. The entrance of the Maha Mandapam has two Dwara Baalakis coloured Idols known as Jaya and Vijaya.

Facing the Moolasthanam is a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Simha Vaahanam. Close to this they have installed a Trident which is firmly placed on the floor of the Temple. The threshold of the Moolasthanam has two more Dwara Baalakis Idols who stand guard. In the Moolasthanam the Presiding Deity of Sri Ponni Amman is seen in a seated posture facing East. She is considered as a Kula Deivam to many villagers not only from Sagandi but from all other villagers surrounding the Temple. The Powers of Sri Ponni Amman is praised skyhigh and many say that any fervent Prayers made before Her would be granted and a solution found soon thereafter. The Maha Mandapam has coloured Idols of Sri Prathiyangira Devi, Sri Vaarahi, Sri Mahendri and Sri Kaalikambal who are all seen in a standing posture. Among them Sri Mahendri alone has a Serpentine Head and looks unique to the eyes of the Devotees. Around the Koshtam of Sri Ponniamman are the following Idols Narthana Ganapathy, Dhakshayani, Vaishnavi, Brahmmi and Durgai.

Outside the Temple is a defunct Vilvam Tree and beneath it is a well designed Kamadhenu Idol with two Serpents flanking it. The outer walls of the Maha Mandapam have various coloured Idols such as Vazhmuni, Sangili Karuppan, Gangai, Yamuna, Gomathi, Maccha Kanni, Naga Kanni, Maheswari, Gangai Amman, Muni and Veeran. The outer peripheral of the Temple has an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Gangai Amman. This Gangai Amman Sub Shrine has been built beneath a massive Neem Tree and standing guard to this Sub Shrine are two serpent Idols on either side. Likewise there is a North facing Sub Shrine in which the Idol of the Saptha Kannigaigal are seen together. Behind the Sub Shrine of these Saptha Kannigaigal are two tall Palm Trees. One Tree is considered as a Male whereas the other Tree is considered as a Female. Many Devotees considered these two Palm Trees as Shivan and Parvathi. It is believed that touching these Palm Trees or embracing them would bring good luck and any genuine requests of the Devotees would be fulfilled.

Opposite to the Main Temple is a huge Neem and Peepal Tree which are intertwined. Beneath these Trees is a North facing Sub Shrine in which Sri Valampuri Vinayagar is seen in the centre and flanking Him are Raahu and Kethu. The Navagraha Sannadhi too is seen quite close to this Sub Shrine. These two Sub Shrines could be entered through a North facing entrance and the top of this entrance depicts the beautiful Kailaya Kaatchi. Likewise there is another entrance facing West and this entrance has two uniquely designed Serpants on either side of it. The Tamil Month of Aadi attracts a lot of Devotees.
