Peruvayal is a small village located between Devipattinam and Ramanathapuram. Sri Ranabali Murugan Temple in Peruvayal is also refered by some as Siva Subramaniyar Temple. There is an East facing coloured Welcome Arch at the centre of which Sri Ranabali Murugan is seated and flanked by Valli, Devasena and two Peacocks. The Temple is located a few kilometers away from the main road. This Temple has a five tiered East facing Rajagopuram which is gorgeously painted and at the centre of which is displayed a Vel or a Spear. Beyond this Rajagopuram is a small Gopuram beneath which two Soldiers Idols are seen galloping on their Horses. On the other side of these horsemen are two more black Idols. One of them is Goddess Bhadrakali and the other black Idol is that of Aadhi Mangaleshwarar Gurukkal who was a staunch Devotee of Bhadrakali. There is a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam along with a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram. The base of the Dwajasthamabam has different Murugan Idols and they pertinently point towards the direction of the Murugan Temples. To the left of the Dwajasthamabam is an East facing Sub Shrine for Ganapathy. The place between the Dwajasthambam upto the Maha Mandapam consists of coloured pillars and in these corridors the Temple Vaahanams are stacked. There are two balck Veera Bahu Idols well ahead of the Moolasthanam. Beyond it is a North facing Idol of Sethuthalava Vairavan Servaikarar and another Idol of Sethupathi Kaatha Devar Avargal. Both these Idols are in a standing posture with folded hands. It is said that Sethuthalava Vairavan Servaikarar was a staunch Devotee of Murugan and in his dream Murugan had told him that He would give darshan in Peruvayal instead of his going to Thiruchendur. In accordance with the dream that he had, Sethuthalava Vairavan Servaikarar went to Devipattinam seashore and he saw an Eagle circling over the sea. Taking cue from this, he himself plunged headlong into the sea and brought out a Vel or Spear. It is said that this Vel had been gifted by Goddess Parvathy to Murugan so that He could vanquish the Soorapadman. The Image of Murugan has been embossed on this Vel or Spear. This Vel is known as Chathru Samhaara Vel and it could be seen with Ranabali Murugan on festive occasions in this Temple. On the top of the threshold of the Moolasthanam a Gajalakshmi Idol is seen. Devotees may have to climb three or four steps to reach the door steps of the Sanctum Sanctorum. To the left is an East facing small Idol of Vinayagar. The threshold of the Moolasthanam looks dazzling to the eyes of the Devotees since it is gold plated. In the East facing Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Sri Ranabali Murugan is seen flanked by His Consorts Valli and Devasena. In the inner peripheral of the Temple there is an East facing Shrine of Sri Parvathavarthini who is the Consort of Sri Ramanatha Swamy and She is seen in a standing posture. Next to this is another East facing Shrine of Sri Ramanatha Swamy who is in the form of a Shiva Lingam. Next to this is a Shanmuga Chakkaram. There is a South facing Chandikeshwarar Sub Shrine. A Nandhi Vaahanam is seen facing the Shrine of Sri Ramanatha Swamy. The outer peripheral of the has a West facing black idol of Idumban who is seen in a standing posture. Since this is a village Temple there is ample space for vehicular parking. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Magizha Maram and the Pushkarani is a Saravana Poigai. Thai Poosam, Thirukarthigai, Kanda Shasti, Vaikasi Visagam, Panguni Uthiram are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner. This Temple is known as Raahu Kethu Parihaara Sthalam.
