This Temple is also referred as Sri Murugan Temple and Kundrakudi too is called as Kunnakudi. There are two Welcome Arches leading to the Temple. While the first Welcome Arch is near the Main Road the second Welcome Arch is East facing and is closer to the frontage where the rows of shop begin. There is a tinned roofing here to cover the Devotees from the vageries of Nature. To start with there is a Temple Office where tickets could be bought for various sevas. There is a huge multi pillared Mandapam with coloured Idols on top of it. Even the ceiling here is not spared and it is fully painted in a gorgeous manner. Within the Mandapam is a Shrine for Palani Aandavar or Palani Murugan and this is under the care of the Nagarathar Community. Close to this is the Sivan Temple which comes under the Jurisdiction of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). There are actually 6 Shiva Lingam here but only 5 of them are officially taken into account since the 6th Shiva LIngam is outside along with a Vinayagar Vigraham. The names of the five Shiva Lingam are 1) Thenuthrunathar, 2) Annaimalaiyar, 3) Senjinathar, 4) Kasi Viswanathar and 5) Somasundaranathar. The names of the two Ambals here are 1) Thenaatchiammai or Azhagammai and 2) Sivagami Ambal. Apart from them there is an Idol for Bhairavar too. A Temple Tusker is tethered here and it is called as Subbulakshmi. After this, the flight of steps to the Murugan Temple begins and the entire steps have in them several pillars. Midway to the Temple there are Sub Shrines for Karthigai Pillayar, Idumban, Vallaba Ganapathy, Veerabadhu Thevar, Naalvar (Appar, Sundarar, Thirugnanasammandhar and Manikavasagar). Following this is a pair of coloured Dwara Baalagas. Beyond it is a huge multi pillared Mandapam where a Sub Shrine for Visalakshi Udanurai Kasi Viswanathar and it is East facing. There are Idols for Suryan, Chandran, Kaala Bhairavar, Dhaksinamoorthy or Alamar Selvan, Sorna Vinayagar, Kuzhandai Vadivelar, Chandikeshwarar, Natarajar or Aadavallan and Navagraha Sannadhi. Most of the pillars are embellished with the Idols of Gods and Goddess. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Shanmuganathar or Sri Murugan is flanked along with His Consorts Valli and Devasena and they are East facing and look resplendent. The Presiding Deity is unique with 6 Heads and 12 Hands and some call Him as Arumugaswamy. He also has a few other names such as Chetty Murugan, Mayil Kaalai Kandan, Mayuragirinathar, Kundrai Murugan Thenaathrunathar. The Temple is unique in several ways. This Temple has been chosen and built on a Peacock shaped hillock 2000 years ago on the banks of River Thenaaru. The Sacred Tank or the Pushkarani are named as Saravana Poigai, Thenaaru and Mayil Theertham. Devotees visiting this Temple choose Kavadi or carry Milk Pot or perform Anga Pradakshanam. Thai Poosam and Panguni Uthiram draws an overwhelming number of Devotees from far and near. The Temple has facilities for Head Tonsuring, Ear Boring, and Thulabaaram. Weddings are performed here after proper verification and certificates are issued to that effect. The Temple has a huge car parking close to the Sacred Tank. The Temple is Managed and Maintained well by Kundrakudi Aadhineam.
