Sri Thirumanangeeswarar Temple is located on the outskirts of Minjur at a place called Melur in Ponneri Taluk. The full name of the Temple is Sri Thiruvudai Amman Samedha Sri Thirumanangeeswarar Temple and it is believed to be around 1300 years old. Though the Temple is located slightly away from the main road there is a Welcome Arch close to the main road and leading to the Temple. This Temple does not have any Rajagopuram but instead there is an East facing Gopuram atop which the Idol of Somaskandar is seen. There are two pillars supporting this Gopuram and the Idols of Vinayagar and Murugan are embedded on them.
This Temple gives prominence to the Ambal who is known as Thiruvudai Amman. She has to be Prayed first before reaching the Moolasthanam of Sri Thirmanangeeswarar. The Shrine of Ambal is South facing with a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram, a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Simha Vaahanam kept within a four pillared Mandapam and they all face North towards the Moolasthanam of Ambal. The first Mandapam consists of multiple pillars and the Idols of Ashtalakshmi are seen in each of these pillars. Beyond it is another stone Mandapam and at the threshold of the Moolasthanam of Goddess of Thiruvudai Amman are two Dwara Baalagis who stand guard. Close to one of the Dwara Baalaki Idol is an Idol of Iccha Sakthi. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Goddess Thiruvudai Amman stands South facing and Blesses Her Devotees. This Thiruvudai Amman is Sublime and She draws enormous number of Devotees from far and near. Just outside this Moolasthanam three huge Images of Sri Thiruvudai Amman is hung along with Sri Vadivudai Amman of Thiruvottiyur and Sri Kodi Idai Amman of Thirumullaivoyal. There is a general belief that those who Pray the above said three Goddesses in a single day would be reaping enormous benefits in their life and would be considered on par with visiting Kasi and Rameswaram.
There is a tall Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram, a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam within a four pillared Mandapam facing West towards the Moolasthanam. Heading towards the Moolasthanam there are two Dwara Baalaga Idols who stand guard. Beyond this is an Idol of Ganapathy and Murugan who are seen on either side of the Moolasthanam. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Thirumanangeeswarar is seen East facing and in the form of a Swayambhu Shiva Lingam. In the earlier days the Presiding Deity of Sri Thirumanangeeswarar was called as Sri Sugandhavaneswarar in Sanskrit which implies the Sweet Smell or Fragrance of a Flower. Within the Moolasthanam is a South facing Idol of Sri Manonmani Ambal. Around the Koshtam of the Temple are the Idols of Narthana Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar are seen. In the inner peripheral there is a small Idol of Vinayagar and close to this are the Idols of Moovar comprising of Appar, Thirugnana Sammandhar and Manickavasagar. All these Idols are West facing towards the Moolasthanam. Only Sundarar would be missing in this. There is a North facing Veerabadrar and a West facing Idol of Surya Bhagwan. At the extreme left of the inner flank are two Idols of Irratai Pillayar seen along with a Naagar. At the right end is an Idol of Valli Devasena Samedha Sri Subramaniyar along with Gajalakshmi or Mahalakshmi. Between the East facing Irratai Pillayar and the Subramaniyar the Idols of Murugan, Naga Devathas, Kasi Viswanathar, Kasi Visalakshi are seen. Then there is a Shiva Lingam known as Maha Lingam and a South facing Bhairavar Idol. Outside the Moolasthanam is an Idol os Swamy Iyyappan which is seen close to one of the Dwara Baalaka Idol. There is a Navagraha Sannadhi meant for this Temple.
The outer peripheral has a Sub Shrine of Sri Chandikeshwarar. The Temple has a Madapalli or a Temple Kitchen with an Annadhana Koodam. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is a Peepal Tree or Arasa Maram whereas the Temple Tank is quite away from the Temple. There are a handful of shops selling all Divine Articles pertaining to the Temple. There is a paid vehicular parking which is huge hence parking could be done with effortless ease. Thei Pirai Ashtami, Valar Pirai Ashtami, Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner.
