This Temple is situated in Thirumalpur which falls under the newly formed Ranipettai District. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sri Manikandeshwarar, an incarnation of God Shiva. Sri Shiva is found in the form of a self manifested Swayambhu Lingam facing East. Sri Manikandeswarar is also known as Sri Maalvanangeeswar by the local people. Sri Manikandeswarar's Consort Goddess Anjanakshi Ambal is also known as Sri Karunai Nayaki here in this Temple. Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Vilvam Tree. This Temple was initially called as Thirumaarperu in Tamil and Harichakkrapuram in Sanskrit. This Temple draws lots of Devotees from far and near during 10 days Utsavams in Maasi Tamil month. This Temple has Subshrines for Sri Irattai Pillaiyar, Sri Chidambareswarar, Sri Somaskandar, Sri Subramanyar, Sri Chandikeswarar, Sri Natarajar along with Sri Sivagami Ambal and Goddesses Gaja Lakshmi and Pancha Maathars. The name Thirumaalpur is derived since Maha Vishnu is said to have worshiped God Shiva in this Temple. The unique Factor of this Temple is that Devotees can get the  Blessings of both Sri Shiva and Maha Vishnu simultaneously under a single roof. The Idol of Maha Vishnu is placed exaclty opposite to the Presiding Deity in a Praying posture. The Temple has a Sacred Tank called as Chakkara Theertham situated just opposite to it. There is a belief that King Raja Raja Chola strived hard in building this Temple. The age of the Temple dates back to 985 and the Sundara Chola stone inscriptions vouch for it. This Temple was renovated long back in 1937.
