The actual Name of the Temple is Sri Maragathambigai Samedha Sri Kasibhanathar Temple. This Temple is also known as Kasibanathar Temple whereas some Devotees refer this as Erithatkondar Temple. The Temple is situated around 1 Km away from the Ambasamudram Main Road. This is a East facing Temple with a gorgeous 5 tiered Rajagopuram. Beneath this Rajagopuram the Idol of Anjaneya Swamy has been etched. There is a multi pillared Mandapam in the anterior and all the pillars have been intricately carved with various Idols and this goes on to show the deft hands and the skill of the craftsmen of those days. There is a Yaaga Mandapam on the right side while entering the Moolasthanam. A Neivedhya Peedam or a Bali Peedam, a Nandhi Bhagwan in a four pillared Mandapam along with a Kodi Maram or Dwajasthambam is  seen. It looks as though the Dwajasthambam seems to pierce the roof of the Temple and go skywards. To the left of the Dwajasthambam there is a North facing Sub Shrine in which Arulmigu Hariharaputhra Sastha is seen flanked by Poorna and Pushpakala. To the right of the Kodi Maram is the Navagraha enclosure in which the nine Navagrahams are kept in and orderly manner. There are Images of two Dwara Baalagas while proceeding to the Sanctum Sanctorum. There is a North facing Adhikaara Nandhi with Suryan and Chandran who face Westwards. A Anukyai Vinayagar Idol and an Image of Natarajar is seen close to the Moolasthanam. At the threshold of the Sanctum Sanctorum are two Dwara Baalakas. Sri Kasibanatha Swamy is seen in the Sanctum Sanctorum as an East facing Shiva Lingam. He is considered as an incarnation of Lord Shiva. It is believed that this Kasibanatha Swami was brought out through the sheer power of Kashyapa Munivar and installed here. The Ambal is known here as Sri Maragathambigai. She is South facing and in a standing posture in Her Shrine. The threshold of Ambal's Shrine is gold plated and dazzling to look at. There is a Palliyarai close to the Ambal's Shrine. The inner peripheral has the Naalvar Sub Shrine in which Appar, Sundarar, Sammandhar and Manickavasagar are seen North facing. Similarly Juradevar, 63 Naayanmaars and the Sapthamathas too occupy the inner peripheral and they are all North facing. Closeby are East facing Idols of Vinayagar, Shiva Lingam and Sage Agasthiyar. Again there is a East facing Sub Shrines for Kanni Vinayagar, Urchavar, Uma Maheswarar and Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar. There is a solitary Idol of Dhakshinamoorthy areound the Koshtam. The most important Shrine of this Temple is that of the Erithat Kondar who is seen West facing as a Swayambhu Shiva Lingam. There are two Dwara Baalakas on either side of His threshold and facing this Shrine is a Nandhi Vaahanam. It is said that a Kerala King suffered from a physical ailment and hence God appeared before him and asked him to donate a doll made out of Till. Obeying this order the King presented the Till Doll along with his wealth to a poor brahmin. Soon the Till Doll disappeared and not knowing what to do with the huge wealth, the brahmin entrusted the wealth to the Temple Archagar and left to meet Sage Agasthiyar. The Temple Archagar transferred the power of the Shiva Lingam to a Tamarind Tree. Soon the Brahmin returned and pleaded to the Temple Archaga to return his wealth. The Temple Archaga flatly refused to do so and denied knowledge about the wealth. He even went to the extent of promising on the Shiva Lingam. The wise Brahmin requested the Temple Archaga to make a promise on the Tamarind Tree upon which Shiva's Power had been transferred. On doing so the Temple Archaga was burnt down to Ashes by Lord Shiva. Taking mercy on the burnt Temple Archaga, the Brahmin pleaded Lord Shiva to restore the life of the Temple Archaga. Unable to turn down the request of the poor Brahmin Lord Shiva brought back the Temple Archaga to life again. Regretting and repenting for his misdeeds the Temple Archaga fell flatly at the feet of the God. The Archaga also gave back the entire wealth to the wise Brahmin. This Shiva is named here as Erithat Kondar or Erithu Aatkondar and He is found in His Shrine as a West facing Swayambhu Shiva Lingam. To cool and mitigate the anger of Erithat Kondar there is a Sub Shrine of Maha Vishnu facing East. The wise Brahmin who has been mentioned in the story has been kept as a Turbaned Idol in this Temple. There are South facing Sub Shrines for Saneeswaran, Chandikeshwarar and Bhairavar. There is an exclusive Shrine for Natarajar and Sivagami Ambal. This Natarajar is fully smeared with Punugu and hence known as Punugu Sabapathy. The outer peripheral of the Temple is not so clean and looks ill maintained. There are Sub Shrines for Arunachaleswarar, Murugan, Kasi Viswanathar, Visalakshi, Vinayagar and Naga Devathas. There is a Theerthavari Mandapam built on the banks of River Thamirabharani and on festive occasions the Idols from the Temple are brought here for a Divine Bath. Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri, Maha Shivarathiri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner. It is widely believed that those who are in knee deep trouble or more financially would be relieved of all their financial troubles if they would come and Pray here.
