The Temple is located  on the main road leading from Chenglepattu to Kalpakkam Township. This Temple consists of two parts.  One is the Foot Hill Temple and  the other Hill Temple located close by.  The Main Deity of the Hill Temple is Lord Vedagiriswarar and His Consort is known as Sokka Nayagi.  The Main Deity at the Foot Hill Temple is called as Lord Bhaktavachaleswarar and His Consort is known as Thirupurasundari.  Lord Bhaktavachaleswarar is housed in the Sanctum in the form of a Lingam  The Foot Hill Temple has four massive Gopurams with several Theerthams surrounding it.  The four Gopurams of the Foot Hill Temple resembles similar to the Annamalaiyar Temple at Thiruvannamalai.  The Foot Hill Temple is Unique in having Lord Ganesh & Lord Murugan as Dwarabalagas or gate-keepers.  There is a Tortoise shaped Mandapam in the Foot Hill  which is otherwise known as Aamai Mandapam.  Thirupurasundari has a Separate Shrine in the Foot Hill Temple.  The Vimanam of the Sanctum of the Foot Hill Temple  is Gajabrushtam or shaped like the back of an Elephant.  Appar, Sundarar, Manickavasagar & Thirugnanasambandar had visited here.  It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalam.  The Hill Temple is renowned for its Sanghu Theertham.  Its Unique that Two Eagles come to feed at the Hill Temple at an appointed time.  The Temple gains prominence from Tourism point of view  since this temple is  included in the Mahabalipuram Package for Tourists.
