Baba Baidyanath Temple is also called as Baba Baidyanath Dhum or Baba Baidyanath Temple Jyotirling Temple. This Temple is one of the 12 famous Jyotirling Temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. This Temple is one of the renowned Pilgrimage spot amongst many Shiva Devotees. It is believed that Lord Shiva appeared as a doctor in front of Demon King Ravana and cured his illness therefore the name Vaidhiyanath or Baidyanath is derived. Scores of Devotees from Sultanganj clad in saffron clothings with Ganga Jal (Holy Water from River Ganges) walk down 108 Kms to this Temple bare footed thus completing their Vow. This Temple is attached to 21 other smaller Temples. Mother Parvathy Temple is tied to the Main Temple using a thick red sacred thread which the showcase unity of Shiva and Sakthi.
