The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Goddess Mahamaya and She is considered as the combination of Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswati. This Temple is considered to be one of the 52 Sakthi Peedam Dedicated to Goddess Sakthi. The Presiding Deity Mahamaya is also known as Kosaleswari. This Temple was built in the 12-13th Century by Kalachuri King Ratnadeva. This Temple is built following Nagara Style of Architecture. This Temple is built facing North and has a Huge Sacred Tank at the entrance. This Temple was restored by  Archaeological Survey of India. The Courtyeard and the mandapam of this Temple was built by Marathas in the late 18th century. Lakshmi Pooja and Saraswathi Pooja are celebrated in a grand manner.
