Shree Bada Ganesh Temple, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh

  • Shree Bada Ganesh Temple, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh

The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Ganesh and He is found in a seated posture. The Idol of Lord Ganesh is 25 feet tall and 10 feet wide.Though the Idol shines as if it is made out of marble the real fact is it is made out of bricks, lime stone and sand. Maharishi Guru Maharaj Siddhant Vagesh Pt. Narayan Ji Vyas established this Ganapathy Idol by doing many experiments. The Holy Waters from all Mokshapuris namely Mathura, Haridwar, Ayodhya, Kanchipuram, Ujjain, Kashi and Dwaraka were used for constructing this Bada Ganesh Idol. Many ornamental works were done by using elephant emerald, Gaushala clay, gemstones like diamond, emerald, topaz, pearl, brick with rubies and metals like gold, silver, iron and copper. Initially Lord Bada Ganesh was left to sit in an open space for first 13 years and only in the year 1954 a permanent roof was constructed. This Temple attracts huge number of Devotees from far flung areas during Ganesh Chaturthi.
