The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Govinda who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Goddess Radha. Inside the Sanctum Sactorum there are idols of Lord Krishna, Lord Balabadhra, Lord Jagannatha and Goddess Subadhra. This Temple was built by Maharaja Nara Singh on 16th January 1846 but this Temple complex underwent great damage due to an Earthquake in the year 1868. So Maharaja Chandrakriti rebuilt this Temple again on 26th April 1876. Due to  the Anglo Manipur war in the year 1891 the Deities of this Temple was moved to Kongma and was later brought back to this Temple again in the year 1908 by  Maharaja Churchand Singh. Currently this Temple is being maintained and administered by the Chief Minister of Manipur. Janmashtami, Basanthi Purnima, Karthik Purnima and Holi are celebrated in a grand manner  and during these days thousands of Devotees visit this Temple from far flung areas.
