The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Goddess Mahalakshmi. The Idol of the Presiding Deity is made out of White Marble. This Temple is built on the banks of Lakshmi Tal, a famous lake in the city of Jhansi. This Temple is one of the ancient Temples in Uttar Pradesh. The Temple is filled with beautiful sculptures and intricate carvings. This Temple is considered as one of the most prestigious heritage sites of Jhansi. Raghunath Rao II of Newalkar, the then Subedhar of Jhansi built this Temple in the 18th Century. This Temple was built even before the rise of Great Jhansi Rani Lakshmi Bhai. It is believed that Rani Lakshmi Bhai used to visit this Temple everyday as an ardent Devotee. There is a Tunnel connecting this Temple with the Jhansi Fort. This Temple has witnessed significant events that shaped the History of this Historic City of Jhansi. This Temple shows the great culture and lifestyle of the people of Jhansi. Diwali is celebrated in a grand manner and people from other parts of India visit this Temple during this time. One has to visit this Temple atleast once in his or her life time.
