The Presiding Deity is known as Kshirapthinathan. The other names for hthe Moolavar is Sri Ranganathar or Athi Rangan.  His Consort is called as Sri Ranganayaki Thaayar. This Temple is situated on the Chennai to Bangalore National Highway in Kaveripakkam some 500 metres to the left at a place called Thiruparkadal. Here Sri Ranganathar is seen in a reclined posture atop Aadhiseshan. He is in this posture in the midst of River Veghavathi which is also called as Palar. It is firmly believed that Devotees who come and pray here would be rid of all their former Sins committed thus far. This Temple is being renovated now and would soon get a facelift.
