Sri Karthigeya Swami Temple was initially started in Sector 31-D, Chandigarh with just a Spear (Vel) during the Militancy days by the Tamils living there. They had thought that since Lord Murugan was a Warrior God He could save them. After a decade the Militancy started Waning and the Tamils built a full fledged Temple with Sri Karthikeya Swamy flanked by Valli and Deivannai on either side and based on a pedestal. A commitee formed to built this Temple did an onerous task and completed all the formalitiesof building this Temple through Tamil Sthapathis Rajagopal and Thiagarajan. There are sub shrines for Lord Ganesha, Mariamman, Dhakshinamoorthy, Chandikeshwar, Brahma and Durga. Recently after the Kumbabikshekam sub shrines for Lord Hanuman and Navagraham have been added. Saint Vijayendra saraswathi had visited this Temple and Blessed Devotees at that time. Chanting of Thirupugazh is a hallmark of this Temple.
