Adambar is a small village near Nannilam in Thiruvarur District. This is a South facing Temple and there is no Rajagopuram, Dwajasthambam etc for this Temple. There is a small Arch like structure built in which Lord, Rama Seetha, Lakshmana, Anjaneya Swamy along with two Idols of Garudalwars could be seen. There is an iron gate leading to this Temple. The anterior side has a Mangalore tiled roofing. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is actually Sri Ranganathar but the Temple has gained popularity as Kothanda Ramar or Kothanda Ramaswamy Temple. This Temple in Adambar is one among the 5 Pancha Rama Kshethrams while the other 4 are Paruthiyur, Thillaivilagam, Vaduvur and Mudikondan. On entering the premises, there are two Images of Lord Anjaneya Swamy one on each side of the door. Even the ceiling of the Temple is colourfully painted to give an appealing look. There is a 4 pillared Mandabam with a small tiled Sub Shrine for Anjaneyar which is East facing. Beyond this is a Shrine which is East facing too and Sri Kalyana Ranganathar is seen here as the Presiding Deity. There are 2 Dwarabalagaas on the threshold of this Kalyana Ranganathar Shrine. He is seen here along with Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. Beneath the Presiding Deity of Sri Kalyana Ranganathar the Urchavamurthy Idol of Mannargudi Rajagopala Swamy could be seen with His 2 Consorts. There is another Urchavamurthy Idol of Navaneethakrishnan with His Consorts. Close to this is another Sub Shrine where the Idols of 3 Alwars and Saint Ramanujacharya are kept. Within the same 4 pillared Mandabam there is a Sarpa Vaahanam and a Garuda Vaahanam. Then comes the Shrine of Kothanda Ramar or Kothanda Ramaswamy which is South facing. He is seen here along with Goddess Seetha, Lakshmana, Anjaneya Swamy and Maarisan who is disguised as a Maaya Maan or a Golden Deer. Beneath them is the Idol of the Urchavamurthy Srinivasa Perumal who was excavated from under the Earth many years ago. Away from this are a few Idols of Natarajar, Pillayar and Murugan etc which belonged to some nearby Shiva Temples. Actually this Temple has another entrance too on the Eastern side with a Iron Gate but this has been closed on a permanent basis. Close to this gate is a Bali Peedam and a Thulasi Maadam and a small Sub Shrine for Garudalwar facing the Moolasthanam is found is also seen here. Sri Rama Navami, Hanumath Jayanthi, Vaikunda Ekadesi are celebrated in a grand manner. Since many these days consider a visit to Pancha Rama Kshethrams as Sacred, this Temple has started attracting more number of Devotees than before.
