Kollur is located in the midst of dense forestry of Karnataka and even the travel there is such heart warming.  At the entrance of Kollur there is a Welcome Arch leading to the Temple.  Devotees are very fortunate since Kollur Bus Terminus is located close to the Temple premises.  Just before entering Shri Mookambiga Temple there is a Sub Shrine for Balamuri Ganapathi who is made out of a white marble and most Devotees make it a point to visit here before entering the Main Temple.  There is a tall Dwajasthambam and an equally matching oil lamp stand. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Goddess Mookambika who is none other than Goddess Parvathy. She is found as a self manifested Swayambu Jyodhirlingam. A gold line splitting the Jyothirlinga into two half can be seen. One half representing Tridevi and the other Trimoorthy.  On the outer peripherals there is a Sub Shrine for Goddess Saraswathy and Devotees with tiny tots come here to Name their Kids. Others feed their Kids for the first time with a sweet payasam.  Some other Devotees make their Kid write in a slate for the first time so that their education booms to the highest level.  A four handed Bronze Idol of Goddess Mookambika can be seen in front of the Jodhirlinga. There are Sub Shrines for Veerabadra Swamy, and Adhi Sankara, Prana Lingeswarar, Sri Partheshwara, Panchamuki Ganapathi, Chandramouleeswarar, Nanjundeswarar, Hanuman and Venkatramana.  There is an exclusive counter selling Silk and all other type of Sarees that were offered to Goddess Mookambigai.  Devotees could pay a lesser amount for such sarees and buy them as a souvenir for having come here,  There is a Ghee counter where Devotees could pay money and light Ghee lamps as an offering to the Goodess Mookambika.  There are facilities for Thulabaaram where Devotees mostly offer coconuts, Sugar, Jaggery, Bananas etc to the Goddess as an offerings.  This Temple is built on the foothills of Kudajadri hills, on the Southern Bank of Souparnika River. This Temple is one of the 7 Abodes created by Sage Parasuramar. The Idol of Goddess Mookambika was installed by Adi Shankarar. The Temple Administration is involved in many social activities like supporting many Secondary Schools and Pre Universities. There are many lodges, restuarants and park in and around this Temple in order to make the Devotees visit more comfortable.
