Sree Panankateesvarar Temple is located in Panaiyapuram very close to the Vikravandi Bye Pass Road. This Temple is also known by another name as Thiruppuravar Panagatteeswarar Temple. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sri Panangateeswarar who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The other names of Shiva are Sri Panangatteswarar, Sri Nethrotharaneswarar, Sri Kannamarnatha Nayanar. The Temple has a East Facing Rajagopuram and on entering the Temple there is a Dwajasthambam and a Balipeedam. In the Sanctum Sanctorum the East facing Lord Panangatteswarar in the form of a Siva Lingam Blesses His Devotees. Within the Moolavar Sannadhi is a Urchava Vigraham for the Ambal and She is known here as Bhoga Manonmani Ambal. Facing the Sanctum Sanctorum is a Nandhi Bhagawan Idol. Closer to the Temple in the outer Prahaaram an Adhikaara Nandhi with a Human Face and a Dwara Ganapathi can be seen, on the right side there is a Idol for Shanmughar and Saneeswara Bhaghavan. There are Sub Shrines for Siva Sooryanar, Pichandavar, Dhakshnamoorthy, Lingothbavar, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar. Apart from this there is an Idol for a Pillayar close to which 63 Nayanmargal Idols are placed one after the other. Following this are the Sapthamaathas viz. Brahmmi, Vaishnavi, Maheswari, Kaumari, Varahi, Indhirani and Chamundi who are neatly displayed. Next to the Saptha Maathas are Kasi Viswanathar, Visalakshi, Easwarar, Vishnu along with His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi, Naalwar and Lord Murugan who is found with 6 faces and hence he is known here as Arumughar and next to Him is the Gajalakshmi Idol. On the outer peripherals there is a Sub Shrine for Ganapathi with a Moonjur Vahanam facing Him and there is another Sub Shrine for Valli & Devasena Samedha Siva Shanmugar and facing this Sub Shrine is a Mayil Vahanam or a Peacock. Between these two Sub Shrines is an elevated stone podium within which are a few Palm Trees or Panai Maram and the Theertham is Padma Theertham. There are 4 Nandhis around it and Naga Devathas too are found here along with a Shiva Lingam. On the outer flank is a huge Sub Shrine for the Ambal who is known here as Meyyambigai. She is also called by another name as Sathyambikai and Her Sub Shrine is quite big and consists of a few stone pillars. There is a Divine Well with 2 coloured Peacocks on top of it. Unlike other Temples this Temple has a closed Navagraha enclosure with a roof top The Temple has a huge compound wall and a gate. Any Devotees with a genuine Request or Prayer can come here and Pray to Him and their desires would be fullfilled very soon. Aippasi Annabishekam, Thiruvathirai in Tamil Margazhi Month, Pradhosham, Maha Sivarathiri, Thiru Karthigai are performed here in a grand manner.
