The full name of this Temple is Sri Mangalambikai Udanurai Sri Prananatheswarar Temple and is located on the Kumbakonam to Mayavaram route. Some refer this Temple as  Mangalyam Kodutha Mangalambigai Temple or Prananai Kodutha Prananatheswarar Temple. The Temple has a five tiered  East facing Rajagopuram. This is one of the 276 Thevara Paadal Petra Sthalam and the 38th Siva Sthalam located on the Northern Banks of River Cauvery in the Chola Nadu. The Temple was actually  built stealthily by one of the Ministers in Kulothunga Cholan Kingdom. Hence he was beheaded by the King. The wife of the Minister pleaded before Goddess Mangalambigai to spare the life of her beloved husband and save her Mangalyam and her wishes were fulfilled. Hence the name Mangalyam Kodutha Mangalambigai Temple. Beneath the Rajagopuram on the left is an Idol of Ganapathi and on the right is an Idol of Bala Shanmugham. There is a Dwajasthambam and a Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Idol is placed on an elevated tiled Mandabam facing the Sanctum Santorum. The Moolasthanam of the Temple is East facing and Prananatheswarar who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva is in the form of a Siva Lingam. On the way to the Sanctum Sanctorum the Ambal Sub Shrine is on the right. The Goddess is known as Mangalambigai and She is South facing. Around the Koshtam of the Moolasthanam there are Idols for Dhakshnamurthi, Arthanaareswarar, Brahmma, Vishnu Durgai and Kaveri Amman. The inner peripheral contains Sub Shrines for Lord Natarajar, Sivagami, Eesanamurthy, Sooryan, Bhairavar, Visalakshi and Lakshmi.  There are Sub Shrines for Mahadeva Lingam, Rudhra Lingam, Sankara Lingam, Neelalogitha Lingam, Saru Lingam, Vijaya Lingam, Bheema Lingam, Devadeva Lingam, Bavothbhava Lingam, Kabaleesa Lingam in the outer peripheral and they are all found as Shiva Lingams. In the same outer peripheral  there are Sub Shrines for Vinayagar, Mangala Vinayagar, Sri Meikandar, Sri Aradhathar, Sundarar, Appar, Sammandhar, Valli Devasena Samedha Shanmugar and two Idols of Goddess Gajalakshmi. Arthanareeswarar is found as a Shiva Lingam and He is West facing. There is a Goshala and a place to store the Haystack. The Temple has a Pushkarani or a Sacred Tank near the Rajagopuram but it needs to be cleaned since its fraught with filth and rubbish. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Vellerukku and the Sacred Tank is known as Mangala Theertham. Currently this Temple is under the care of Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam. It is said that those who wish to go to Suryanar Kovil to get rid of the ill affects of their Planetary must come to this Temple first and then only they are supposed to visit Suryanar Temple. It is believed that Devotees who come here on 11 consecutive Sundays and offer Curd Rice in a Erukku Leaf to other Devotees would get rid of Navagraha Dhosham, Kalathra Dhosham and Mangalya Dhosham soon.
