Someshwar Temple was initiated by the Cholas in the 14th century and their good work was carried over by the Vijayanagara Kings and it was built in the Dravidian style. Lord Someswara who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva is the Presiding Deity. The Temple is rich in architecture and there is a super structure built with brick and stucco. As in other South Indian Temples there is a Dwajasthambam and a Bali Peedam leading to the Sanctum Sanctorum. There are several ornamental pillars built here. There is a a separate Shrine for Navagraham and the Temple has a well built compound wall on all four sides. A Marriage hall could also been seen.
