Sri Thiruthalinathar Temple in Thirupathur is an East facing five tiered Temple located on the main road in Tiruppathur. To the left of the Rajagopuram is a Sub Shrine for Vazhividum Vinayagar and to the right is a Sub Shrine for Valli, Devasena Samedha Subramanyar. The actual full name of the Temple is Sri Sivagamasundari Samedha Thiruthalinathar Temple. Some Devotees refer this Temple as Yoga Bhairavar Aalayam. There is a Mandabam with several coloured pillars. Temple festivals pertaining to this Temple is performed is one of the Mandapams located on the right.. To the left of this is a place for housing the Temple Elephant and it is called Yaanai Kottadi in Tamil. The Temple has a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram, a Neivedhiya Peedam or a Bali Peedam and a West facing Nandhi Vaahanam mounted on an elevated podium. Just before entering the Moolasthanam there is a Naalvar Sannadhi on the left. There are two huge coloured Dwarabalaga Idols and on one side of them is a Shanmugar Idol and on the other side there are twin Pillayars known here as Pollaa Pillayaar. There are two more Dwara Baalakas close to the threshold of the Moolasthanam. Beyond this they have enclosed all the Urchavamurthys in a safe place. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Thiruthalinathar Swamy is seen East facing and in the form of a Swayambhu Sivalingam. There are two Dwara Balaagis who stand guard before the Ambal's Shrine. The Ambal in this Shrine is known as Sivagama Sundari Ambal who is seen in a standing posture facing East. There is a Palliyarai just before the Ambal's Shrine. In the inner peripheral the Idols of 63 Naayanmaars, Veerabadrar, Sapthamathaas, Ganapathy and Jeshtadevi are found North facing. Apart from them there are two elevated Sub Shrines for Sri Saraswathi and Sri Mahalakshmi. In the 1st outer peripheral there are Sub Shrines for Varna Lingam, Maha Ganapathy, Kasi Viswanathar and Visalakshi which are East facing. At the rear end of the Temple is the Sthala Viruksham which is a Sarakondrai Maram and beneath it is an East facing Idol of Saint Valmiki. It is construed that Saint Valmiki had visited this place and had made Penance. Close to it is another Idol of Ganapathy along with a few Naga Devatha Idols. The Temple has separate Sub Shrines for Agasthiya Lingam, Vishnu Durgai and Chandikeshwarar. Yoga Narayana Perumal occupies a Sub Shrine facing East. The Aadavallan or Natarajar Sub Shrine is South facing. In the outmost peripheral there is a North facing Sub Shrine for Subramanyar who is flanked by Valli and Devasena. There is a Vanni Mara Vinayagar beneath a Vanni Maram. A Yaaga Saalai too is found in the outer peripheral. Another important Shrine of this Temple is that of Yoga Bhairavar whose Shrine has to climbed by 4 or 5 steps. Before this Shrine is an Idol of Jayanthan who is the Son of Indran. It is said that this Jaynthan got His Saaba Vimochanam in this Temple. Yoga Bhairavar is seen in a sitting posture facing West. It is worth mentioning to note that Bhairavar is always found in a standing posture in rest of the Temple whereas this is the only Temple where He could be found in a sitting Yoga posture. Close to this the Idols of Chinna Marudhu Mullai and Periya Marudhu Mullai are seen embossed at the base of two different pillars. There is an exclusive Sub Shrine for Thirunageswarar who is East facing. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Sarakondrai Maram and the Pushkarani or Sacred Tank is known as Sridhali Theertham. Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri, Maha Shivarathiri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner.
