Thenkalai Sri Varadharaja Perumal Temple is located on the main road in Villiyanur in Puducherry. The full name of the Temple is Sri Perundevi Thaayar Samedha Thenkalai Sri Varadharaja Perumal Temple. This Temple has two South facing entrances. The former entrance is small and has a Gopuram on top of which Sri Varadaraja Perumal is seen in a standing posture flanked by His Consorts and Garudalwars. The newer entrance is quite bigger and has a South facing Welcome Arch. There is a fiver tiered East facing Rajagopuram beyond which is a small Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam, a Dwajasthambam or Kodimaram and a small Sub Shrine of Garudalwar or Periya Thiruvadi who is West facing and looking towards the Moolasthanam. The Temple has a multi pillared Mandapam and Devotees may have to climb 3 to 4 steps to reach the Moolasthanam. There are two huge coloured Dwara Baalaka Idols standing guard. In the East facing Sanctum Sanctorum Thengalai Sri Varadharaja Perumal is seen in a standing posture along with His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi who are seen flanking Him on either side. The Urchavamoorthy Idol of Thenkalai Sri Varadaraja Perumal and His Consorts are also seen within the Moolasthanam. The Gopuram leading to the Moolasthanam has coloured Idols of the Presiding Deity on its top and they look impressive to the eyes of the Devotees.

The Thaayar's Shrine is located in a multi pillared Mandapam and Devotees amy have to climb 3 steps to reach the premises. There are two coloured Dwara Baalaki Idols who stand guard before the Shrine of the Thaayar. The name of the Thaayar is Sri Perundevi Thaayar and She is seen in an East facing sitting posture. Her Urchavamoorthy Vigraham is also seen within Her Shrine. It is believed that those who wish to get married come and garland the Thaayar with Virali Manjal Malai for 9 or 11 weeks. If done so there is a general belief that they would get married very soon. The Temple has an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Chakkarathalwar with Sri Yoga Narasimhar facing West. There is a South facing Sub Shrine for Senai Mudhalvar close to which stand the Temple's Wooden Chariot.

There is a concrete enclosure in which all the Temple Vaahanams are stacked and kept. The Temple has an East facing Andal Sub Shrine in which Sri Aandal and Her Urchavamoorthy Idol are kept in a standing posture. Close to this Sub Shrine is a South facing Sub Shrine for Sathyabama Rukmini Samedha Sri Krishnar. The Urchavamoorthy Idols too are seen within the Krishna's Sub Shrine. Then is a South facing Sub Shrine of Chakkravarthy Thirumagan who is none other than Sri Rama. In this Sub Shrine Sri Rama is seen along with His Consort Seetha and Lakshmana. The Urchavamoorthy Idols too are seen within the same Sub Shrine. 

Then is a South facing Alwars Sub Shrine in which only three Alwars viz Periyalwar, Thirumazhisai Alwar and Nammalwar are seen along with Sri Ramanujar and Sri Manavaala Maamunigal. The Temple has a Vaigunda Ekadesi Mandapam or Sorga Vaasal which is South facing. The Gopuram on top of the Vaikunda Ekadesi Mandapam has a coloured Idol of Sri Pallikonda Ranganathar who is seen along with His Consorts and Brahmma. There is a West facing Siriya Thiruvadi Sub Shrine in which Sri Anjaneya Swamy is seen in a standing posture. The Divine beauty of this Temple is that they have painted the respective Gods Image on the ceiling just above its Sub Shrine. The Temple has a Temple Kitchen or Madapalli and the Temple Office too is within the Temple premises. The outer wall of the Temple too has been painted with different Images of Dasavatharam which adds beauty to the Temple. Thiruvaadi Pooram, Tamil Months of Margazhi and Purattasi are some of the functions celebrated with great fanfare. Vaikasi Brahmmaothsavam, Panguni Brahmmothsavam are some of the festival that are celebrated in a grand manner.
