The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Ramar. This Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desam that is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This Temple is known as Jatayu Moksha Sthalam and Pithru Saabha Vimochana Sthalam since Lord Jatayu died here after fighting gallantly with Ravana.  That time Dasaratha Maharaj,  father of Lord Rama passed away in Ayodhya and  thinking of that Lord Rama performed the final rites of Jatayu here. Lord Rama Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Goddess Hemambujavalli who  is also called as Potramaraiyal. Unlike other Ramar Temples  here Lord Rama can be seen in Bujanga Sayana Posture or in a reclined posture and has four hands each consisting a Conch, Chakra, Bow and an Arrow. This Temple has two small Sacred Tanks called Jatayu Theertham and Sukhra Theertham. There is a Sub Shrine for Lord Yoga Narashimar and it is believed that anyone  worshipping Lord Yoga Narashimar with a Prayer for a decent job here will be blessed with a Good Job because of which He is called as Udyoga Narashimar. This Temple has a three tiered Rajagopuram and a Tall Dwajastambam. Festivals like Sri Rama Navami, Gokulashtami, Thirukarthikai and Vaikunda Ekadesi is celebrated in a grand manner.
