The Jamma or Jama Masjid is one of the largest Masjids in entire India. This Mosque was built by Muhammad Shah a Moghul Ruler. The construction of this Mosque was started in the year 1724 and it took nearly 4 years to get it completed.  This magnificient Mosque complex has nearly 17 domes and three gateway.  People are allowed to enter this Mosque using all the three gateways. This is the only Mosque in India where nearly 5000 Worshippers can offer Namaaz at the same time. This Mosque also has a separate arrangement for women to offer Namaaz here and it is called as Shadari.  This Mosque is the only one in India where there is a separate Grave for Martyrs. This Place is also called as Ganj-e-Shaheedan or the Township of Martyrs. This Mosque is three century old complex and it  is still standing tall. This is the only Mosque in India where large amount of Gold was used for it’s construction.  It is believed that the Gold used here is more than the Gold used to construct Golden Temple in Amristar. The Domes of this Mosque is plated using pure Gold.  Archaeological Survey of India has performed many surveys ans indeed it took fourteen years to complete it.  This Mosque complex has been  built on top of Balai Fort and it is considered to be the Highest point of Aligarh City.  Since this is located on the Highest point this Mosque is visible from most  parts of Aligarh. There are nearly six Prayer Halls in this gigantic Mosque complex. The Pillars of this Mosque are carved intricately and it is a architectural marvel of the Muslim Art and Culture.
