Moorish Mosque, Circular Road, Kapurthala, Punjab

The Moorish Mosque of Kapurthala  is one of the largest Masjid in entire Punjab and it is believed to be the replica of Grand Mosque of Marrakesh in Morocco. This Mosque complex was built and inaugurated by Maharaja Jagajit Singh and he was the last Ruler of Kapurthala. This place is also called as Mini Paris of Punjab and this Mosque is considered to be one of the best Mosque in entire South East Asia. This Mosque comes under the  Archeological Survey of India. This Mosque is situated in Kapurthala City.  Maharaja Jagajit Singh built this Mosque in order to promote social integration among his people. The inner dome is decorated beautifully by following the Lahore Mayo School of Arts.  This Mosque is made out of Marble stone. One of the unique fact of this Mosque is that there is no external dome or Minarets instead there is a tall tower at one end.  The Mosque interior Courtyard is paved using Marbles and has a unique design.  The doors of the Mosque is made out of wood and iron railings.  The entire Mosque complex is painted in light red colour and the doors are painted in green.  The miniature replica of this mosque is wonderfully carved in wood  and was presented to the Maharaj on 14th March-1930.
