The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Goddess Bavatharani who is an incarnation of Goddess Kali. Goddess Bavatharani Blesses Her Devotees along with Lord Shiva. This Temple was built by Rani Rashmoni in the year 1855. This Temple is built on the Eastern bank of River Hooghly. The Idols of Goddess Kali and Lord Shiva is installed on a Thousand Petalled Lotus flower which is made out of pure silver. This Temple is built by following the traditional Navarathna Style of Bengal School of Architecture. The three storied main Temple complex consists of nine tall towers and faces North. Opposite the Main Temple complex there are twelve small Temples for Lord Shiva. This Temple also has a Sub Shrine for Radha and Krishna. At the entrance of this Temple there is a Sub Shrine for Rani Rashmoni. Every day thousands of Devotees visit this Temple in order to get the Blessings of Goddess Maha Kali.
