Hidimba Devi Temple is also known as Dhungari Temple or Hidimbai Devi Temple. Some locals call it as Hadimba Devi Temple.  This Temple is dedicated to the Wife of Mahabharat Bhima. The Temple is surrounded by a cedar forest called Dhungiri Van Vihar at the foot of the Himalayas. This is one of the Ancient Cave Temple of Himachal Pradesh. This Temple is built over a huge rock protruding out of the ground which was Worshipped as an image of the Hidimba Devi. This Temple Complex was built by Maharaja Bahadur Singh in the year 1553. This Cave Temple is believed to be the place where Hidimba Devi performed meditation. During Navaratri, the entire people of Manali Worship Hidimba Devi instead of Goddess Durga. The Hidimba Devi Temple has beautifully carved wooden doors and has a 24 meter tall wooden shikhar or tower above the Main Temple Complex. This tower consists of three square roofs covered with timber tiles and contains cone shaped brass roof at the top. The doors of this Temple is  carved with different forms of earth Goddess Dhurga. This Temple also depicts some intricate details such as animals, foliate designs, dancers, Lord Krishna’s life history and Navagrahas. The floor of this Temple is made out of whitewashed mud-covered stonework. There is a huge rock inside the Sanctum Sanctorum and only 7.5 cm Tall brass idol represents Hidimba Devi. A rope hangs down in front of the huge Rock and is believed that people who do sins are hanged on that rope and made them get hit by that rock by swinging them towards it.
