The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Kasar Devi and She is an incarnation of Goddess Durga.  Kasar Devi is also called as Katyayani Devi. Devotees have to climb hundred steps to get the Blessings of Goddess Katyayani.  This Temple complex dates back to 2nd century BC and this is the only cave Temple of this region. The Presiding Deity here is believed to be a Self Manifested or a Swayambhu Idol. In the 1890s Swami Vivekananda visited here to do meditation in memory of the event of Akand Jodhi which is  inside the Sanctum Sanctorum. This Temple is famous for it's Magenitic Power which helps to rejuvenate people because of which they  perform medaitation here. This Temple is one of the Unique places like Machu Pichu and Stone Heng where as per NASA a limitless power can be felt.  Many stone age remains are found around the Temple complex and the rocks around this Temple is called as Almora Group of Rocks most of which were formed even before 100 million years. This place is little elevated when compared to other parts of this region due to the presence of Graphite in this Soil. This Temple is located on a Himalayan Mountain Range and covered with dense forest filled with Deodar trees. Every year Kasar Devi Fair is conducted on the accasion of Kartik Purnima. This Temple attracts lots of Devotees during Navarathri Day.  Many tourist from abroad come and stay here for peace of mind.
