The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lankeshwar and He is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. This Temple gains utmost importance in North East India since it is construed that the Sri Lankan King Ravana Prayed to Lord Shiva here. This is a Hill Top Temple located on the Western side of the Guwahati University in West Jalukbari area. There is a Welcome Arch at the foot hill of this Temple. Devotees visiting this Temple have to climb nearly 300 steps to reach the Sanctum Sanctorum of this Temple. Close to the entrance there is a huge Statue of Garuda or Jatayu. There is a huge Idol of Lord Hanuman in a seated posture. Apart from this there are several Idols of Lord Hanuman embedded on the walls of the Temple. There are Sub Shrines for Lord Ganesha and Shani Bhagavan. This Temple is surrounded by beautiful dense forest and hence apart from normal Devotees this Temple attracts a lot of Tourists visiting this area. It is not only the Devotees who come here but several Engineering College Student from nearby and a few European Tourists too come here to see and enjoy the beauty of this place. It is believed that those who come and Pray here would be absolved of all their sins.
