Arulmigu Kodanda Ramar Temple is located in Ootathur amidst many crusher units and dried up lands all around. This is an East facing Temple but there is no Rajagopuram available for this Temple. Instead there is a small Gopuram in which the Idols of Ramar, Seetha, Lakshmana and Anjaneya Swamy are seen perched on the top and they are together flanked by a Sangu and a Chakkaram. This is said to be a very ancient Temple which is supposed to have been built during the 7th century. It gains importance since Goddess Seetha is said to have worshipped a Shiva Lingam here for the betterment of Sri Rama. Many say that coming to this Temple and Praying has similar effects of Praying in the Rameshwaram Temple. It is very strange and odd to note that this Temple does not have a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram. Also there is a small Neivedhya Peedam and close to it is a East facing Hanuman Idol known as Baktha Anjaneya Swamy. To the rear of this Idol there is a West facing Garudalwar Sub Shrine over looking the Moolasthanam. Beside this Garudalwar Idol, is another small Anjaneya Swamy Idol facing the Sanctum Sanctorum. On heading towards the Moolasthanam there is a Thumbikai Alwar or Ganapathy and an Adhi Kesavar or the Serpent King. The threshold of the Moolasthanam has a pair of coloured Dwara Baalakas standing guard. These are the only few rare Idols that look bright and resplendent. To the right of the Moolasthanam is an elevated podium on top of which the Idols of Sri Ramanujar, Sri Viswaksenar and Sri Nammalwar could be seen. The Sanctum Sanctorum is East facing and Sri Rama, Seetha and Lakshmana are seen in a standing posture. These Idols are life size, huge and resplendent to look at. The Sanctum Sanctorum could be circumambulated through the inner peripheral but ther are no Idols here and the pathway is full of filth and dirt. The Temple has several pillars and almost all the pillars are intricately carved with Divine Idols and Yaali. Devotees can circumambulate the Temple but the Pradakshina Paadhai is full of thorny plant and bushes which suggests that the Temple has not been swept or cleaned for the past several months. Though this Temple is said to be several centuries old. Neither the HR & CE nor the Temple Bhattar Damodharan evinced any interest to keep this Temple clean. Devotees who visit this Temple would naturally be saddened by the plight of the Temple. It is said that the Temple Bhattar Damodharan hardly ever visits the Temple since he is attending to few other Temples located closeby. Hence, when the majority of the Devotees visit this Temple the mother of Damodhara Bhattar named Anandhi Ammal attends on them and portrays her penury and poverty to the Devotees. Infact she takes the liberty to enter the Moolasthanam and even offers Shadari, Theertham and Kumkum to the visiting Devotees which does not speak well of the prevailing situation in this Temple. Devotees who intend visiting this Temple could buy Flowers, Garlands, and other Pooja Articles of their choice from their places since nothing is available close to the Temple. Philanthropists and Industrialists who can spare a thought for this Temple could do something concrete so that this Temple is put on the map along with similar Temples.
