Maa Tara Devi Temple in Shimla is a Hill Top Temple. This Temple was built by the Kings of Sen Dynasty around 1766 AD. The fort of Giri Sen can be still found in a nearby place called Junga. The Idol of Tara Devi is made out of Ashtadhatu which is a mixture of nine precious elements. According to some local people it is believed that the Idol of Tara Devi was brought to this Temple from the state of West Bengal around 18th century. Tara Devi is considered as a Goddess of Star since Tara means Star in many Indian Languages. This Temple was built by following the same old Parihari style of Architecture. The Idols of Maa Tara Devi, Kali and Saraswathi were installed again on 20th July 2018 in which nearly 90 Priests were invited to grace the occasion. This Temple attracts thousands of Devotees since it is located in an important tourist hill station.
