This Temple is  located within Mangalore City. The origin of this Temple or when it was built is still unknown but it is believed that this Temple is more than 2500 years old. This city is named as Mangalore after the Presiding Deity of this Temple. It has been built on the banks of River Nethradevi. It does not have any specific Car Parking area marked. Vehicles coming to this Temple park them in a Triangular area available opposite to the Temple. On entering the Temple there is a huge Dwajasthambam and on the left of the Temple there are a lot of Counters available for various Sevas and Prasadham, Dharshan etc. On the upper side just before entering the Main Temple is a huge bronze metal sheet on which several images of Lion are etched and this looks impressive. This Flag Staff  or Dwajasthambam was installed on 15-03-1998 by the Bharathi Theertha Maha Swamiji.  The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Goddess Mangala Devi who is seen in a sitting posture  and She is considered as an incarnation of Goddess Shakthi. This Temple was built in the 9th century by King Kundavarman of Alupa Dynasty. It is believed that the initial Temple complex was built by Parasurama. Though this Temple has been built in Karnataka it follows the typical Kerala Style of Architecture. Most of the Temple structure is made out of wood works. The anterior portion of the Temple has a massive tinned roofing with manglorean type of roofing too.  The Temple has a two storied Rajagopuram with the upper storey decorated using wood carvings. On either sides of the main door of this Temple there are Idols of Dwarabalakas guarding it. The Presiding Deity inside the Sanctum Sanctorum can be seen in a sitting posture and a small Lingam can be seen along with it. Facing the Temple Main Shrine is a Sub Shrine for Naga Devathas  within an enclosure and 10 steps have to be climbed to reach here. There is a Sayana mandabam Festivals like Navarathri, Rathothsava, Dussehra are celebrated in a grand manner. This Temple is maintained and taken care by a Board of Hereditary Trustees & monitored by ASI.
