There is a Welcome Arch on the Main Road leading us to the Temple. On the left side of the Main entrance is a Temple car parking area. Devotees have to climb around 10 to 12 steps to reach the level of the Temple where a blue coloured Gopuram with various images of Gods is found. Shri Manjunatheswara Temple dates back to 1068 AD and it has a very important and ancient history. The Temple's architecture resembles the Vijayanagara style. The picturesque Kadri Hills background and the caves therein gives it a jade green background Temple located in Mangalore City. The Temple has strong bondage with a Tulu and Buddhism. The Temple is believed to have been built in a typical Vaastu or Hindu Agama Sastra and it is said that the Main Deity of Sri Manjunatha Swamy is a mixture of 5 metals known as Panchalogam and He is found East facing.  Devotees are bound to cross 5 doors or 5 gateways before they could have have a Darshan of Lord Manjunatha Swamy who is in the form of a Shiva Lingam with a Gold Kavasam. There is a Sannadhi for Lord Thirulokeshwara installed in 968 AD which comprises of 3 faces and 6 arms and this is considered as one of the best statues in India made of Bronze. Close to it is a Sannadhi for Maha Vishnu who is seen here along with Saint Vyasar.  It is strongly believed that in the ancient days many Sages and Saints had come and had Meditated here and notable among them where Sages Brihu and Kapila. On entering the Temple premises there is a Sub Shrine for Sastha at an elevated place and the gold plating around the threshold makes it eye catching. There is a huge cemented and vacant place with a small temporary podium or stage. Any Divine functions or Wedding could be conducted in this place with ease and thousands could be accomodated easily. There is a Sub Shrine for Ganapathy next to which is a shuttered enclosure in which the Temple's Silver Car or Silver Chariot is safely placed. In an adjacent area there is a Sub Shrine for Durga Parameshwari and next to it is a huge enclosure known as Vratha Mandapam wherein an Images of Shaneeswara Bhagwan and Navagrahams are kept for the sake of Devotees. On the outer peripheral of the Temple there are around 20 to 30 steps to be climbed after which is a Pushkarani or the Temple's Sacred Tank.  It is believed that willing Devotees have to take a dip in this place and again climb up around 20 steps and reach a Sub Shrine where a Divine Shiva Lingam is placed and above it is a Copper Bottom vessel with a hole at its bottom. Devotees who have a holy dip in the Pushkarani have to fetch the Divine water flowing from the mouth of a Nandhi and pour the water in the copper vessel.  This in turn falls on the Shiva Lingam in the form of a Abhishekam. Facing this Divine Shiva Lingam is a black Idol of a Nandhi Bhagwan kept under the massive Tree.  It is said that the Divine water flowing out of the Nandhi's Mouth is equivalent to that of Kashi Bageerathi Theertham. There is a Vinayagar Sub Shrine too. Again climbing up around 20 to 25 steps from here is a Sub Shrine for Lord Anjaneya Swamy and close to the Sub Shrine is a green coloured Anjaneya Swamy Statue.  There are Sub Shrines for Gorakshananatha, Sathya Narayana Perumal, Naga Devathas and a Navagraha enclosure. The entire place is being guarded by a Village Deity known as Malaraya Amman.  Most of the Poojaris here are from the Shivalli Madhwa Brahmins.  Maha Shivarathiri, Arudhra Dharishanam are celebrated in a grand manner.  There are a lot of shops selling Pooja articles etc on the road leading to the Temple.
