The Temple is also known as Vyasaraja Anjaneyar Temple. Just before entering the Main Temple all Devotees have to Pray before a Vinayagar Sub Shrine which is located on the right anterior side of the Temple. This Temple is located in Namakkal on Salem - Trichy Main Road. The Main Deity is carved out of a single stone. The Anjaneyar Deity is around 18 feet tall and East facing. The Main Deity is seen with a Sword in His waist. He also holds a Garland made out of Saligrama. He is found in a standing posture with both His Hands clasped together. This posture is called as Visvaroopa Dharisanam. On some special occasion the Deity is decorated and covered with Turmeric and Sandalwood Paste. A 11 feet elevated platform is available and the Poojas are performed from here. The Vadamaalai hung around the Deity is a speciality here. Vennai Kaapu or Butter Alankaram done here is the feature of this Temple. The Temple is built in typical Tamil style. This Temple is believed to have been built by King Adhiyaman Dynasty. The Temple has a flat gateway tower with a pillared hall leading to the Sanctum. The Sanctum Sanctorum houses the Idol of a18 ft (5.5 m) Anjaneyar facing the Narasimha Shrine on the opposite foothills, located 130 m (430 ft) away The Temple has a Pillared hall leading to the Sanctum. There is no roof over the Sanctum and the Anjaneyar. During Panguni Uthiram the Uthsavar is taken out on procession around the streets. Hanumath Jayanthi and Panguni Uthiram are performed here in a very grand manner. The Temple performs rituals 4 times a day. The Temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Since the Temple is located in a narrow one way stretch, parking of vehicles cannot be done anywhere near the main Temple.
