This is a Rock cut Temple with astonishing architectural beauty. The Temple is known as Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple or Arulmigu Narasimha Swamy Temple in Namakkal Town and is West facing just opposite to the Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple. It is believed that the earlier Pandya Kings built a Temple for Narasimhar who appeared for the sake of His Consort and Hanuman. The Temple has compound wall on 3 sides and is naturally guarded by a hillock which forms part of the Namakkal Fort. To begin with there is a stone Dwajasthamabam beneath which is an Idol for Anjaneya Swamy. Beyond this is a multi pillared Mandapam with a metallic Dwajasthamabm and this Dwajasthamabam seems to pierce the roof of the multi pillared Mandapam. The Thaayar Sannadhi is East facing andShe is seen in a sitting posture and known as Namagiri Thaayar. There is a Urchavamoorthy Idol for Namagiri Thaayar. The entire Thaayar Sannadhi is located in a multi pillared Mandapam. The Sanctum Sanctorum has to be climbed 10 steps initially and there is a Senaimudhalvar Sannadhi. On either side of the steps are Idols for Vinayagar and Kaalinga Narthana Krishna and these Idols have to be Prayed before the Devotees could reach the Sanctum Sanctorum by another 10 steps. There is a Garudalwar Idol facing the Moolasthanam. In the Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Narasimha Swamy is seen majestically and He is flanked by Sanakan, Sanaadhakan who are supposed to be the kids of Brahmma and they seem to whisper into Narasimha ear's. Other than them there are Suryan, Chandran, Maha Vishnu and Easwaran. The Urchavamoorthy is known as Accham Theerthar in Tamil and Prahalaadha Varadhan in Sanskrit. Within the same Moolasthanam there is an embossed caricature of Thiruvikraman, Varahamoorthy, Vaikunda Narayanan and Samhaaramoorthy. The ambience of the Sanctum Sanctorum and its sorroundings would keep any Devotee spellbound. Just on the threshold of the Moolasthanam is a pair of Dwara Baalakas. They have preserved the Sthala Viruksham which is a Palaa Maram or a Jack Fruit Tree in a glass panel made with a wooden structure and this is said to be around 800 years old. There are Sub Shrines for Ramanujar, Nammalwar and Sri Ram and all the Shrines are South facing. There is a Sub Shrine for Vennai Thazhi Krishnan and another Sub Shrine for Krishnar and both are East facing. There are Sub Shrines for Thulasi Nachiyar and Desikar too. The outer peripheral of the Temple has a West facing Sub Shrine for Sri Lakshmi Narayanan Sannadhi. In the outer peripheral of the Temple are several Naga Devatha Idols kept beneath each Tree on an elevated podium. The Temple Urchavamoorthis are taken through all the streets of Namakkal during the 15 day Panguni Uthiram festival. The Temple has an ezclusive Temple Kitchen or Temple Madapalli. This Temple is under the Archealogical Survey of India. and it draws as much importance as that of Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple. Since the Temple features all the Three Gods it is termed as Thirumoorthy Kshethram.
