Thiyagadurgam is an important place in Kallakurichi District. This is an Amman Temple and it is located on a hillock which is full of rocks. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Maamalai Amman. Some Devotees refer this Temple as Malayambigai Temple. Devotees may have to park their vehicles at the foothill and reach the Temple through the steps. Initially there was a Theerthankar Idol installed by the Jain and later Sri Kooshmandhini was added to it. Now the Temple has been taken over by Hindus. Midway to the Temple is a small podium on top of which are two Naga Devatha Idols. There are two Sub Shrines and one is that of Sri Vinayagar while the other Sub Shrine is that of Sri Ayyappan. The actual Temple seems to have been built under a huge boulder and there are two Dwara Baalaki Idols who are seen guarding the Moolasthanam of the Presiding Deity Maamalai Amman. The Presiding Deity of Sri Maamalai Amman looks dazzling and is seen on an elevated podium. Most places of the Temple though built on a rocky terrain has been neatly tiled.
