Aadhi Thiruvarangam is located beyond Thirukoilur. The Temple is located close to the banks of a dry South Pennai River. The Main Deity is Sri Ranganathaswamy or Sri Aadhi Thiruvaranga Perumal. His Consort here is Sri Ranganayaki Thayar. The Temple dates back to the Kritha Yugam and hence known as Aadhi Thiruvarangam. The Temple is built in Tamil Architecture in 5 Acres. Unlike other Temples the Rajagopuram is flat here. The Gopuram of this Temple has coloured Idols of Thirumann, Srichurnam, Sangu Chakkaram and two Idols of Sri Garudalwar and Sri Anjaneya Swamy on either side. The Temple has a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram, and a Neivedhya Peedam or a Bali Peedam beyond which is a coloured Idol of Sri Krishna perched atop and this fascinates the Devotees entering the Temple.

Though the Moolasthanam and the Temple are East facing Devotees may have to enter the Moolasthanam through a Southern entrance. The Main Deity here is bigger than Srirangam and hence He is called as Sri Periya Ranganathar. The most important point is that the Presiding Deity of Sri Ranganatha Swamy is made out of Divine Navapashanam which is considered very Holy and having just one Darshan or a glimpse of Him would do a lot of good to such Devotees. Sri Ranganatha Perumal is believed to have appeared here to the Alwars and King Mahabali. On the way to the Moolasthanam there are Shrines for Sri Rama, Goddess Seetha and Sri Lakshmana and Sri Anjaneyar. The Sub Shrine of Sri Desigar is seen in the multi pillared Mandapam close to the Moolasthanam.

The Consort of this Temple is Sri Ranganayaki Thaayar. There is a separate Shrine for Sri Ranganayaki Thaayar in a multi pillared Mandapam in which She is seen in a sitting posture Blessing Her Devotees. The Temple encourages Thulaabaram offering to Devotees. The Temple offers Annadhanam to all Devotees. Mahishasura Mardhini is considered as the Kaaval Deivam here. The Temple is unique since its kept open from 6 AM to 8 PM continuously. His Lotus Feet (Arangan Paadham) is kept in a closed enclosure. The Temple has a well maintained Ghoshala.  A Nandhavanam or Temple Garden is maintained too. The Sthala Viruksham is a Punnaaga Maram, and the Pushkarani is called as Chandra Pushkarani. Several small shops are found around the sprawling Car Parking. Devotees ought to be a bit careful since there are lots of beggars who fleece those visiting here.
