Sri Laxmi Narayan Temple which is also known as Birla Mandir is a Hindu Temple. The Presiding Deity is Sri Laxmi Narayan or Sri Lakshmi Narayanan who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. His Consort is called as Goddess Lakshmi. This Temple was built by Industrialist Jugal Kishore Birla between 1933 and 1939. Its the largest Hindu Temple spread over 7.5 acres in a Prime Location with several fountains, garden and other Shrines for Lord Shiva, Krishna, Buddha etc. The Temple has religious importance but attracts Tourists due to its Modern Nagara style of Architecture. Stones and other building materials were brought from Agra, Makarana, Jaisalmar and Kota. The Icons made of marble stones were fetched from Jaipur. There is a Huge Central Hall which could accommodate thousands of Devotees. The morning and evening Aarthi draws lots of Devotees and Tourists too. The Temple is East Faced and the Tower above the Sanctum Sanctorum is 160 feet high. More than 100 skilled artisans were brought in from Banaras during the construction. The Temple was formally inauguarated by Mahatma Gandhi in 1939 and from that time onwards a casteless darshan system is being followed. Pandit Vishwanath Shastri was instrumental in guiding when the Temple was being built. Shops outside the Temple Sell Divine Articles and Pooja Materials.
