Muthala Parameshwari Amman Temple is located in Paramakudi Town and this Goddess is considered as the Gaurding Deity of not only Paramakudi Town but also for the entire Ramanathapuram District. This Temple is said to be more than 500 years old. It is situated on the Southern Bank of River Vaigai. The Temple has a five tiered Rajagopuram which is a beauty to watch. Many consider this Goddess to be Omnipotent since She is considered as an incarnation of Goddess Sakthi. In the Sanctum Sanctorum She is seen seated on a Lotus shaped pedestal holding a Trident, a Skull, a Kataka and a Udukkai in Her four hands and facing Her is a Simha Vaahanam.  The Sthala Viruksham is a Kadambha Tree and the Holy Water is Vaigai Theertham. Devotees could perform Milk Abhishekam on the Naaga Idols so that their Naaga Dosham gets cured. Many Devotees throng this Temple in overwhelming numbers to get all their physical ailments cured by Muthala Parameswari Amman and She is very merciful to Her Devotees in this aspect.
