Nettur is a small village in Alangulam Taluk of Tenkasi District. Sri Subramanya Swami is called as Nettur Sri Murugan Temple or as Sri Abrananthar Temple also. This Temple is located in the interior of Nettur and Devotees may need some time to locate the Temple and reach there. This Temple of Sri Murugan in Nettur is an East facing Temple but it does not have any Rajagopuram. They have erected tinsheet roofing all around the Temple. To begin with there is a Gopuram like structure which has been made invisible to the Devotees due to the tinsheet roofing. The Idols of Sri Ganapathy, Sri Murugan, Sri Abranandha Swamy and Sri Ambal are kept but they are invisible to the Devotees due to the tin sheet roofing. Before entering the Temple premises there is an East facing Sub Shrine to the left of the Temple. This Sub Shrine belongs to that of Sri Theradimaadan Swamy who is seen in a standing with a sickle in His hand.  The Navagraha Sannadhi is seen he and it has been erected on a podium and looks eye captivating. This multi pillared Mandapam has various types of Divine Portraits on its walls. This pertains to the life story of Sri Abranatha Swami just by viewing these Images a Devotees can understand an outline of Him.

On entering the multi pillared Mandapam there are two Elephant Idols or Gajamugam after which is a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam, a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram and a West facing Mayil or Peacock Vaahanam looking towards the Moolasthanam is seen. Beyond this is another smaller Peacock or Mayil Vaahanam facing the Moolasthanam. Unusually in this Temple the South facing Sri Dhakshinamoorthy Sub Shrine is not situated in the Koshtam but instead it is located close to the right Dwara Baalaka. The Temple has two eye appealing black Idols of Dwara Baalakas who are seen East facing and in a standing posture. The Sanctum Sanctorum is East facing and Sri Subramaniya Swamy who is the Presiding Deity is seen in a standing posture along with His Consorts Sri Valli and Sri Devasena. With the gold plated background they look splendid and spectacular to the eyes of any Devotees seeing them. Just before them is an East facing Shiva Lingam with a Nandhi Vaahanam looking Him. This place is the Jeeva Samadhi of Sri Apranatha Swamy who attained Moksham here. He was said to be an ardent Devotee of Sri Murugan and believed to have frequent discussions with the Omnipotent through His dreams. The area of His Jeeva Samadhi, the Shiva Lingam over it and the Presiding Deity of Nettur Sri Murugan to the rear of all these look dazzling and would keep the Devotees spellbound. The Shiva Lingam when seen wih the Naagabharanam looks dazzling. The Urchavamoorthy Idols of this Temple is kept in a South facing enclosure of the Moolasthana Mandapam. The Sub Shrine of Sri Chandikeshwarar is seen outside the Moolasthanam and is South facing.

In the peripheral of the Temple there is a North facing Sub Shrine in which two Idols are seen within the same Sub Shrine. These two Idols are that of Sri Muthammal who was the Sister of Sri Abrananda and the second Idol is that of Sri Ennai Kaatha Ammal who was the Daughter of Sri Abranthar. Then is an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Vallaba Ganapathy whose gold colour Idol is at the top of the Gopuam. With this Sub Shrine Sri Vallaba Ganapathy is seen East facing with a small Moonjur Vaahanam looking towards Him. Then there is an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Arya Perumal Ayyanar Sastha. In this Sub Shrine there are Idols of a centrally seated Sri Arya Perumal Ayyanar Sastha who is flanked by His two Consorts with a Puli or Tiger Vaahanam facing Him. Just outside this Sub Shrine is a Vinayagar Idol facing East. Facing the Sub Shrine of Sri Arya Perumal Ayyanar Sastha is a West facing Idol of Sri Madaswamy. To the right of the Sub Shrine of Sri Arya Perumal Ayyanar Sastha is another East facing Sub Shrine and this is that of Sri Nagarajaa.

The outer peripheral has a golden coloured East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Balasubramaniya Swamy. The Gopuram of this Sub Shrine has a standing Idol of Sri Bala Subramaniya Swamy. Within this Sub Shrine Sri Bala Subramaniya Swamy is seen East facing along with His Consorts Sri Valli and Sri Devasena. Close to this Sub Shrine is another East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Irulagatriyammal who was the Consort of Sri Abranandhar. In this Sub Shrine Sri Irulagatriyammal is seen in a standing posture. Facing Her Sub Shrine is a Nandhi Vaahanam. Then there is a North facing Sub Shrine of Sri Muppudaathi Ammal who is seen within Her Sub Shrine in a seated posture. The coloured Gopuram of Her Sub Shrine has a stucco idol of Sri Muppudaathi Ammal seated on a Lion. Flanking Her Sub Shrine are two Idols and they are 1) Sri Sangilimadaswamy and 2) Sri Kasamadaswamy. Both these Idols are North facing and in a standing posture. Strangely the Sub Shrine of Sri Muppudaathi Ammal could be access from outside too without entering the Main Temple. Outside the Temple Premises is a West facing Sub Shrine of Sri Idumban and another East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Kuthukal Madaswamy. Vaikasi Visakam, Kiruthigai, Shasti are celebrated in a grand manner.

A Temple Office is seen in the inner peripheral of the Temple premises. Devotees have a strange habbit in this Temple and such Devotees who wish to approach Sri Nettur Murugan have to come to this Temple Office with a Written Request of their Prayer. Such Written Prayers are usually collected by the Office and kept before the Presiding Deity. It is believed that by approaching the Presiding Deity with such Written Request the Prayers of such Devotees are taken care of by Nettur Sri Murugan Himself. There is a small fee of Rs.150/- levied by the Temple for such Written Requests.
