Brahmeswara Temple is one of the most ancient Temple and  is located in Bhubaneswar and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This Temple was built in the 11th century and has a sprawling campus. This Temple is built at the center of a Courtyard and is flanked by many other Sub Shrines.  According to the inscriptions it is believed that this Temple was built by  Kolavati Devi, the Mother of King Udyotakesari of Somavamsi Dynasty. This Temple was built in the traditional Kalinga Style of Architecture.  This Temple is considered as Panchatanaya Temple since the other four Sub Shrines are flanked on the all the four corners of this main Temple. There are Vimanam and Jagmogana over the Sanctum Sanctorum and the Vimanam of this Temple is 18.96 meters tall. One of the unique aspect of this Temple is that Iron Beams were used in constructing this Temple. The Jagmogana of this Temple has Lion faces carved in it. The walls of this Temple is made out of sand stone and the interiors are decorated beautifully using many wood work. This Temple is famous for its beautiful Sculptures especially in the Tower and Porch of the Temple. The exterior  walls of this Temple are decorated using different Idols of Gods, Goddesses, Birds and other Animals too.  One of the eye-catching Idol of this Temple is Lord Nataraja who can be seen playing a Veena. Maha Shivarathri is celebrated in a grand manner in this Temple.
