Sri Bhava Narayana Swamy Temple is located in Sarpavaram on the outskirts of Kakinada City. The Temple has a 5 tiered Rajagopuram with a huge wooden door and a compound wall. At the threshold of the entrance a Sangu and a Chakaram are kept on either side. Likewise a pair of Dwara Baalakas too are found. On the inner side of the main door the Idols of two black Elephants could be seen. Devotees cannot reach the Moolasthanam through this way since this entrance is opened only during Sorga Vaasal. The Main entrance of the Temple is East facing but there is no Rajagopuram here. Instead there is a Bali Peedam and a Dwajasthambam as usual. There is also a stone Dwajasthambam and on top of it a minature Idol of Anjaneya Swamy and Garudalwar are found. Apart from these there is a pair of Divine Feet which is considered to be the Sacred Feet of Maha Vishnu. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sri Bhavanarayana Perumal who is an incarnation of Maha Vishnu and His Consort here is Goddess Rajyalakshmi who is none other then Goddess Mahalakshmi Herself. This Temple is one among the oldest Temples situated in Andhra Pradesh and it is presumed that it was built during the Chalukya Regime. The Sanctum Sanctorum has been built on an elevated platform and Devotees may have to climb around 10 to 15 steps. On either side of the Moolasthanam the Dwara Baalakas are found. The Presiding Deity of the Omnipotent Bhava Narayana Swamy is East facing. There are Sub Shrines for Goddess Rajyalakshmi and the Acharyaas are all kept in another Sub Shrine. Close to the Moolasthanam is a huge Garuda Vaahanam painted in Gold colour. There is a Sub Shrine for Aalavaradhula Sannadhi and Moola Bhava Narayana Vari Sannadhi. There is a pillared corridor where several Vaahanams are piled up and kept. On the rear of the Moolasthanam is another Shrine for Paadhala Bhava Narayanan which is much below the ground level. He is seen here sitting atop Lord Garudan. There is another Sub Shrine which is supposed to have been by Sage Vyasar and this happens to be the Sub Shrine for Lakshmi Amma Vari. The Moolasthanams and all other Sub Shrine of this Temple are built with rock solid stones and all the Gopurams are painted in a gorgeous golden colour. On the inner side of the outer wall of the Temple is a lovely Idol of Lord Ganapathy. The most eye captivating feature of this Temple is in the outer peripheral where a Kaalinga Narthana Krishna could be seen. Here, He completely subdues the Kaalinga Serpant thereby holding it with His strong arms. Another feature found here is a coloured Thiruman and Srichurnam and on either side of it a Sangu and a Chakaram are seen and at its two ends are two Idols of Anjaneya Swamy and Garudalwar. Lighting of Oil Lamps is not allowed all over the Temple and they have a lighting stand meant for it and Devotees could light up oil lamps at specific places only. Likewise they have a particular place for breaking coconuts and on either side of it a Sangu and Chakaram Idol. On the outer peripherals of the Temple are several benches for the sake of the Devotees visiting here. There is a lovely Temple Garden or Nandhavanam with various plants and Trees which are so attractive to any Devotees visiting here. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is a Nelli Maram or Amla Tree. There are two Sacred Tanks for this Temple they are Muktikaasaram and Narada Kundam and on both the ends a huge and colourful Idol of Sage Naradhar and Lord Anjaneya Swamy are kept.
