Sri Madava Perumal Temple is located in a congested residential locality in Madhava Perumal Street. In earlier times this place was known as Madhavaperumalpuram or Madhavapuram. The Temple has a West facing Welcome Arch from the other side. The Temple has a five tiered East facing Rajagopuram close to which is the Temple's Chariot which is safely secured. The Temple has two Naalukaal or four pillared Mandapam. The first Naalukaal Mandapam is made of Karungal whereas the latter Naalukaal Mandapam is coloured and closer to the Rajagopuram. There is a Vasantha Mandapam to the left of the Rajagopuram in which Temple Rituals and other private functions to be conducted. Devotees may have to climb down 3 o 4 steps to reach the Temple premises. There is a Neivedhya Peedam or a Bali Peedam, a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram and a Sub Shrine for Garudalwar which is located in a multi pillared Mandapam and is West facing towards the Moolasthanam. The Gopuram contains the Idols of Dasavatharam. There are two Dwara Baalagas who stand guard at the threshold of the Moolasthanam. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Madhava Perumal who is the Presiding Deity is seen in a sitting posture flanked by Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. The Presiding Deity is also known as Kalyana Madhavan. This Temple is very unique since a sitting Madhava Perumal is very rare to see in any other Temples. The Urchavamoorthy Idols are also seen in the Sanctum Sanctorum. Likewise a few other Urchavamoorthy Idols are kept in a glass pane close to the Moolasthanam. Close to the threshold is a South facing Sub Shrine which has Idols of Poigaialwar, Boothathalwar, Udayavar or Ramanujar and Manavaala Maamunigal. Next to this are two more South facing Sub Shrines of Vishvaksenar and Peialwar. Mylapore gains prominence since this happens to be the Birth place of Peialwar.

The outer peripheral has a East facing Thaayar Shrine and She is known as Sri Amirthavalli Thaayar. She is seen in a sitting posture and within the Shrine is the Urchavamoorthy Idol of Amirthavalli Thaayar. Next to this is the East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Bhoo Varaha Perumal. The Temple has a exit gate on the Western side but some Devotees use this gate to enter the Temple. There is a closed enclosure in which the Temple Vaahanams are safely kept. The Andal Sub Shrine is East facing and diagonally opposite to this Shrine is a West facing Sorga Vaasal. The Temple has a South facing Ramar Sannadhi in which Sri Rama, Seetha, Lakshmana and Anjaneya Idols are kept. Close to this is the Sub Shrine of Nammalwar and Ramanujar. The Sub Shrine of Sri Anjaneya Swamy is West facing and He is seen garlanded with Betal Leaves. Next to this is the Temple's Alankara Mandapam.

The Pushkarani or Sacred Tank of this Temple is known as Santhana Pushkarani and the Sthala Virukasham is a Punnai Tree. Close to the Santhana Pushkarani is the Theerthavari Mandapam in which two black Elephant Idols look impressive. Devotees facing Marriage impediments can visit this Temple in order to get married soon. Festivals like Chithirai Brahmothsavam, Vaikasi Brahmmothsavam, Aadipooram, Navarathri, Maasi Float Festival, Rama Navami, Thiru Kalyanam on Panguni Uthiram are celebrated in a grand manner. There is a Annadhana Koodam and a Temple Library close to the Rajagopuram. There is a Temple Office and a Temple Kitchen or Madapalli within the Temple premises. The Temple Adminstration deserves a pat on their back since the Temple is maintained meticulously clean.
