Shri Parthasarathi Temple is located in Triplicane or Thiru Alli Keni as it was known in the earlier days. This place is also called as Ice House. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Parthasarathy, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Parthasarathy along with His Consort Goddess Rukmani Thaayar Blesses His Devotees. This Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams and is believed to be renovated during the Pallava Dynasty. This Temple was built by the Pallava King Narasimhavarman I. This is one of the few Temples in India to have Lord Krishna as Parthasarathy the Charioteer of Arjuna and to have separate Shrines for Lord Narasimha, Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. This Temple also has Sub Shrines for Goddess Vedavalli Thayar, Andal, Lord Hanuman, Alwars, Swami Manavala Mamunigal and Vedantha Desigar. Separate entrances and Dwajastambhas for the Lord Parthasarathy and Lord Yoga Narasimha is the unique factor of this Temple. The Rajagopuram and pillars of the Mandapam displays the Great South Indian Architecture. This Temple dates back to 8th century. Vijayanagara Kings and Chola Kings worked very hard in developing this Temple till the 15th Century. This Temple was renovated in 1564 and many new Shrines for different Gods and Goddesses were built. Sculptures portraying Dasavatharam of Lord Vishnu can be seen on the Pillars of the outer most Mandapam of this Temple. This Temple has a huge Holy Tank named Kairavani. Devotees are allowed to take a Holy Dip in it and many poojas are also performed. The 9 feet Idol of Lord Parthasarathy is made out of a Black Stone and is simply eye captivating to the eyes of the Devotees. This Temple is midway and walkable distance from the Bus Terminus of Ice House and Triplicane.
