Arulmigu Sundararaja Perumal Temple is located in a busy and congested Sannadhi Street in Chinnakadai area of Paramakudi. The Temple has a five tiered North facing Rajagopuram. Beyond the Rajagopuram is a Dwajasthambam or Kodimaram and a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam. On entering the Temple there is a Navagraha Sannadhi on the right side. On the left there are two more four pillared Mandapam of two different sizes. On the left flank is the Thumbikai Alwar Idol placed within the Radhe Krishna Mandapam. This Thumbikai Alwar is West facing and in each of the eight pillars of the Radhe Krishna Mandapam are Ashta Lakshmi Idols, they are as follows: Gajalakshmi, Santhanalakshmi, Thanya Lakshmi, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Dhana Lakshmi, Aadhi Lakshmi, Vijayalakshmi and Veera Lakshmi. Devotees may have to circumambulate and reach the Temple by a few steps. There is a South facing Garudalwar Sannadhi. The multi pillared Mandapam here consists of a Thulabaaram and most of the Temple Vaahanams are stacked in one corner of this Mandapam. Two huge coloured paintings of Garudalwar and Anjaneyar are drawn on either side of the entrance. Walls of certain other areas have different Divine Paintings drawn on them. The Presiding Deity of Sri Sundararaja Perumal is North facing and looks resplendent to the eyes of the Devotees. He is flanked on either side by Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. The Urchavamoorthy Idols of Sri Sundararaja Perumal too is kept within the Moolasthanam. There is a Sobaana Mandapam in which the Thaayar Idol is kept and decorated before being taken around. The Alwar Idols of Poigai Alwar, Bhoothath Alwar, Pei Alwar, Kulasekara Alwar, Nammalwar, Thirumazhisai Alwar, Periyalawar, Madhurakavi Alwar, Thondaradipodi Alwar, Thirupaan Alwar, Thirumangai Alwar, Ramanujar and Desigar are lined up on one side of the Sobaana Mandapam. The other side of the Sobaana Mandapam facing the Alwars Idols are the Naga Devathas Idols of various sizes and shapes. The Alwars Idols are West facing whereas the Naga Devathas are East facing. The Shrine of the Thaayar too is North facing and She is known as Soundaravalli Thaayar. Devotees may have to reach the Thaayar Sannadhi by climbing a few steps. Sandini and Prasandini are the two Dwara Baalaki Idols who stand guard before the Thaayar Sannadhi. To the rear of the Thaayar Sannadhi is another Sub Shrine in which Chakkarathalwar and Yoga Narasimhar Idols are kept back to back. There is a North facing Aandal Nachiyar Sub Shrine. Close to the Aandal's Sub Shrine are the Idols of Aadhivann Sadagopa Swami, Lakshmi Narasimhar, Santhana Gopalakrishnan, Lakshmi Hayagreevar and Dhanvanthri Bhagwan who are all East facing. In another multi pillared Mandapam there is an East facing Sri Nadana Gopalanayagi Swamigal Idol and close to it is a South facing Sub Shrine for Anjaneya Swamy. It is customary here to garland the Anjaneya Swamy Idol with Betel Leaves. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Arasa Maram whereas the Theertham or Pushkarani is Vaigai River. Most festivals of this Temple resembles to that of Alagar Kovil in Madurai. Chittrai Brahmmothsavam, Puratasi Month, Margazhi Month are some of the functions celebrated in a grand manner. There are no marked car parking and Devotees coming by vehicles may have to manage it within a limited space. This Temple is supposed to be managed by the Sourashtra Brahmins Association.
