This Temple is generally called as Sri Maha Shankadahara Chathurthi Vinayagar Temple. Some refer this Temple as Sri 108 Nalam Tharum Vinayagar Temple. This Temple is located is a place called Gopala Samudhram on Palani Road in Dindigul Town. The Presiding Deity here is known as Sri 108 Nanmai Tharum Vinayagar. It is said that the Presiding Deity is around 16 Feet Tall. He is also known as Sri Gajamugha Vinayagar or Sri Rajaganapathy. Apart from this main Deity of Sri Vianayagar there are 107 other Idols of Sri Vinayagar who are all seen in a seated posture. The Urchavamoorthy Idol of this Temple is Sri Panchaloga Vinayagar.

There is an exclusive Shrine for God Shiva who is seen in the form of a Shiva Lingam. The importance of this Shrine is that the Rays of the Sun God falls on the Shiva Lingam on the first of Tamil Chitthirai Month. Sri Unnamulai Amman is the Thaayar of this Temple. It is said that those Devotees who Pray to Her and circumambulate Her Shrine, wearing two garlands on Pradosham days would be Blessed by Her and their Wishes fulfilled. There are Sub Shrines of Sri Srinivasa Perumal, Sri Mahalakshmi, Sri Swarna Agarshana Bhairavar, Sri Devi Karumariamman, Sri Durgai Amman, Sri Anjaneya Swamy, Sri Murugan or Sri Subramaniyar, Sri Madurai Veeran, Sri Karuppanna Swamy and Sri Samapura Mariamman. 

Devotees who come to this Temple write their Prayers or Wishes in the form of Thiruvula Cheetu and submit it before Him. It is believed that such Wishes are fulfilled very soon. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is a Nelli Maram or Amla Tree and the Sacred Tank or Pushkarani is known as Gopala Samudhara Theertham. Pradosham, Sankatahara Chathurthi, Vinayagar Chathurthi, Theipirai Ashtami, Shasti are celebrated with great fanfare drawing huge number of Devotees from far and near.
